I recently had the pleasure of trying Good Dim Sum, and it truly lives up to its name! This place serves up some of the freshest, most delicious dim sum I’ve had in a while. Whether you’re a long-time dim sum lover or a first-timer, the variety and quality here will impress you.
Ambiance: The restaurant has a modern, welcoming vibe, with clean lines and a minimalist design. It’s cozy but spacious enough to make you feel comfortable during a meal with friends or family. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure you feel well taken care of throughout your visit.
The Food: The dim sum is, without a doubt, the star of the show. Everything from the classic shrimp dumplings (har gow) to the more adventurous pork buns and sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves, is perfectly prepared. The dumplings are delicate with just the right balance of filling and skin—soft yet chewy. I especially recommend the custard buns (liu sha bao), which are sweet and savory, with a rich, oozing filling that’s totally irresistible.
The flavor profiles are balanced—nothing feels too greasy or overly salty, which is often the case with some other places. Each dish was served steaming hot, and the freshness really shines through.
Variety: Good Dim Sum offers a great range of options. They have all the favorites, but also some unique dishes that are harder to find in your typical dim sum place. Whether you’re into dumplings, buns, or rice dishes, there’s something for every palate.
Value: Portions are generous and well-priced for the quality and taste. You won’t feel like you’re paying for overpriced small plates here; it’s great value for money, especially given the premium quality of the food.
Overall: Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic, well-prepared dim sum with a modern twist. Whether you’re dining solo or with a group, this spot delivers on all fronts—flavor, atmosphere, and service. Good Dim Sum is officially one of my go-to places for dim sum!
Definitely give it a try, you won’t be...
Read moreWhere do I even begin! Dim sum palace 46th st is my FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN THE WHOLE! WIDE! WORLD! PERIOD!
I first found this place when I moved into an apartment nearby, and I’m writing this post as I’m moving out of the apartment today, so of course I had to have my last neighborhood meal here & express my gratitude for these lovely people.
The food and drinks here are absolutely incredible - I’ve probably had 80% of the menu here bc I have the staff order me their favorite items off the menu usually, and it’s always banger upon banger upon banger. Light, healthy, and just so freaking delicious!!!
But what makes this place really really special - is truly the people. New York City can be such a wild, daunting world, and the lovely people at dim sum palace feel like such a shelter in the storm. My actual family lives on the other side of the planet, so dim sum palace staff are the closest thing I have to family in nyc :) they’re always SO kind and welcoming and hospitable. Every time I feel sad or anxious or down about life, I go straight to dim sum palace and sit by myself at the bar because these people here never fail to make me laugh and make me feel cared for. It’s an instant dose of serotonin and oxytocin. Like no matter what happens, I always have a cozy little nook to go to for food and happiness. And how special that is!
Also, this restaurant feels like a historical landmark of New York that deserves its own documentary. Situated right next to Times Square & frequented by many interesting characters of New York. You never know whom you’ll run into here, so come check it out :)
Thank you dim sum palace for offering me a little slice of home when I’m far away from home. Shoutout to Kevin, Raymond, Wilson, Sing, May, Tony, Fei, Sunny and everrrybody for making this place so special. I love you...
Read moreFood was great. Service was poor. We had orange chicken, general tso chicken, traditional beef fried rice, and pan fried buns. Unsure of why everyone has posted that the service is great and these ppl are friendly but that’s very untrue. Never knew who the waiter was, no proper introductions, we sat for abt 10-15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us and when we were acknowledged we gave some random waiter our drink orders, appetizer, and entrees all in one. He didn’t write anything down and looked at us crazy while we were looking at him confused. Proper etiquette is to introduce yourself and ask for drink orders. That’s customary at any restaurant. My boyfriend ordered sweet tea for his beverage and they brought out bland green tea which isn’t a problem but when we asked if it was actually sweet tea we received remarks like “what”, “it is sweet tea” several times then it took about 3 different servers to tell us the other drink options. Again, wasn’t sure who was our particular waiter. While we waited to be greeted, I watched a female server chit chat with the table behind us the entire time. It was just unorganized chaos. The food was great however. Orange chicken was crispy and had the right amount of sweet heat. Fried rice was fresh and perfect. Food was immaculate and it sucks that the service doesn’t match what this place has to offer. I don’t think this was just an off night. I just think these ppl are cold and have a group wait system that customers should know about upon being seated. Seating is weird also. Those tables right next to the wall in the hallway need to be removed too much...
