It was a lovely surprise and treat coming upon this establishment on a visit to town last year. It was a beautiful summers day and we were enjoying a walk along the river and downtown area and walked into the marketplace out of curiosity. First or all, the architecture is very nice and interesting with a rustic quality to it that adds to the atmosphere. We visited several shops there and I was impressed by variety of products and shopping available and everyone I met (owners and staff) were all very pleasant and helpful. Read moreThis is my favorite place to hang out in Newburyport! It's such a nice place. There's a book store, a healthy eating place where you can get smoothies and juices and gluten free food, a small market (Black Duck), a dance studio, instrument lessons, salons, a place that sells nice stuff for the house, and plenty of comfortable seating in the middle of it all with quiet jazz playing in the background. I sit here with my laptop and work or I read books and just relax. Very nice family friendly atmosphere. Nice folks all around, friendly classy people....

Most shoppes are upscale with a gorgeous kitchen store that rivals (and bests) Williams Sonoma. Plenty of places to sit and relax. My personal favorite are the leather embossed postcards at RedBird that can be sent through the mail and (one would hope), saved forever.
