I’ll preface this review by highlighting that I’ve been to this Toyota dealer numerous times over the past 4-5 years.
When I scheduled my appt and dropped the car off, I explained exactly the 2 items needing attention: leaking valve cover gasket and failing hvac motor. I also asked they check the condition of my battery. My expectation was that I’d soon receive fair quotes for each repair, and proceed as recommended.
A few hours later I received a text message with a link to quotes for the repairs. What I immediately noticed was the charges already incurred: $42 rental care $79 diagnostic fee, and battery check charged $79 ??? Any auto parts store/oil change business checks battery's for free. How is that even justifiable. I feel completely gouged. When dropping my car I was never informed about incurring a single charge, and was expecting quotes for services, not a $200 invoice for the dealership to tell me what I already knew - that I needed a new valve cover gasket and a hvac motor/fan.
Not to mention i wasted almost 4 hrs of my day driving back and forth, twice.
The most concerning thing is the $1400 quote I received to replace a $125 part. 8 hrs of labor at $159/hr? The hvac motors is accessible behind the passenger side kick-plate under the glove box. It should take no longer than 90 mins to complete job. I found a mechanic in Lincoln City who said he'd have it done in an hour…which he did, when I had him complete the repair 2 days later for 75% LESS than Toyota’s quote.
The experience above highlights my feelings of being taken advantage of, and losing trust and confidence in your business.
I've been bringing my vehicle to Toyota of Newport for years, but the egregious over-charging/quotes ensures this will be my last interaction with...

Initial service was good. Andy did a good job
Follow-up with some questions and concerns has been less than ideal. Seems like trying to get connected to the person I need to talk to is a trial. Difficult to send an email to an address that rejects it. Have left a couple voicemails, no answer. Several times ive called and the phone just rings incessantly on a loop. There is much to be desired. I have/am learning a lesson in purchasing a car from a dealership, which seems to be "be willing to drive farther in the interest of better service."
I dont ask for much. When i was showing interest in buying, i was getting all kinds of calls and emails. Now that I have the car and some concerns...radio silence.
Update: 8/7/25
I am increasing the score to four stars strictly on the basis of my interactions with April. From what I can tell and what I have seen she is the only one who has made any effort to hear what I have to say and make it right. I'm very hopeful she will be moved into a leadership position sooner than later because people like her are what is needed to make good ties with the community and customers. If everyone who worked at the Toyota dealership handled the customers the way she has handled our interactions, this dealership would never have problems. I would give April 10 stars if I could. The others have a lot of work to do in the customer service department. Thank you very much for your efforts April! They matter greatly!
Update 8/24/25 the dealership has shown a lack of integrity and shady business. Report will be filed with BBB.
April still deserves 10 stars for her attempts to try to fix the situation, but the dealership would get a zero from me if at...
Read moreI brought my 2006 scion ( Toyota) in for cooling system check and flushing radiator, and all point inspection, on 2/29/2024. After a short time my car was returned and was told everything was ok and showed me the all point inspection form (see enclosed) I said I was surprised that all the hoses were ok, and questioned if they did a full inspection and looked under the car? The advisor said yes, they had to look under the car to do the flush... everything checked out all ok. Within a month, I started noticing radiator coolant loss. I began replacing the coolant, and went back in to the Toyota service department. They pulled up my All Point Inspection and said everything ok... I just have an older car, and keep feeding fluids. On 9/24/24 driving over to Corvallis my car overheated and stopped. I had the car towed back to Newport ,to PJM. PJM said my radiator was in terrible shape, no fins left, and coolant just all leaked out of it. They said anyone who did coolant system inspection would have had to have seen it. The radiator was original ( 18 years old ) If they did the flush, they had to have seen the radiator. I had the Radiator replaced with PJM. I wrote a letter of complaint to the Toyota dealership. I have never received a response from the management. I would never recommend anyone take their car into this dealership for maintenance or repairs. I cannot trust that they did the work that they charged me, nor the reliability of the inspection form... or even that they were the least bit concerned about my complaint (with attachments) I have photos of The All Point Inspection and the radiator, but unable to copy...
