Off the hook restaurant was a good place to eat. There was one waiter in 1 waitress that I could see in they seemed very busy. The guy who helped us was very helpful. We started with crab cakes. They tasted good, not super good, just good. I did get some pieces of shell or something very hard in mine. The housemaid tartar sauce tastes like Dill relish and mayo to me. It's not bad it's just standard. I had the Ruby's pork Mac and cheese. It was good a little bland the noodles were cooked nicely, not too much cheese sauce and the pork was okay on top. I can't complain about it. It was a little better than standard. I feel like kids would love this dish. You can get it with or without the barbecue sauce on the pork. Next, I had the halibut fish and chips. The chips that come with this meal are awesome. The halibut is not worth the $26.99. I feel it was slightly overcooked. The fish was dry. I have definitely had worse, and yes, I would try this again. We did have a small mishap. The end of the ketchup squeezy tube popped off when we were trying to get ketchup on our plate, and we ended up with most of the bottle on our plate. Last but not least, we had the patty melt messy and delicious. This was served with the same chips or fries that come with the halibut. And they are delicious. I definitely would not shy away from stopping here and trying Off The Hook. The parking lot is a...
Read moreRan across the street from our hotel for a late dinner. Ordered the calamari for appetizers. It was good, not exceptional, but loved their house made tartar sauce. Then we ordered the “Bombshell” - a clam chowder served in a sourdough bread roll. It was DELICIOUS. I almost skipped the bread roll but gave in, and I am glad I did. The top slice of the bowl (the “lid”) was brushed with a garlic butter and grilled, as was the soft doughy innards that were scooped out to make room for the soup. The bread was soft and flavorful with a crispy grilled crust. And the chowder. We had a local recommend it, so we gave it a shot. It was really good with lots of chunks of clams and great fresh flavor. Not a lot of big potatoes, and I would probably have wanted more soup if that bread hadn’t been so good, but it was definitely delicious. Our server was Guy - friendly and easy to laugh with. Only downside - they were out of the appetizers we wanted to order (oysters, crab cakes, and coconut shrimp), but it’s Covid and we understand sometimes menu items aren’t available. We will come back - I am looking forward to trying the Garlic Burger - it sounds delicious and who doesn’t love garlic! I hope I can try it, but it will be hard to pass on the...
Read moreI like how clean the bar and the gaming room are. I went in to play the lottery machines. It’s a comfortable place. Everyone is very friendly but the one thing about the room where the machines are located is that it has no sound insulation so that when friends are together having a good time the sound is not dampened because it is an echo chamber and it can get really high in the decibel range especially when a guy yells out the entryway of the gaming room using his outside voice, I jumped out of my skin. The guy was having fun but sounds just get big in that room. The guy had a voice that was best suited as a maritime warning horn to help guide harbor masters away from jagged rocks on foggy nights. Luckily, after Mr Fog Horn McLoud left, I got back into my rhythm and was able to recover my losses. As a matter of fact, all the machines started paying out at the same time. It was fun to see.
I think adding carpet to the floor and sound tiles to the walls would make this room a lot more comfortable and friendly to new patrons who will likely come back. I’ll leave a review of the food when I’ve had a chance...
