This location is extremely adorable and quaint. What isn’t adorable, is the complete lack of respect you get from the servers if you decide you’d like your food to-go. We ordered fish and chips for the road and while we were absolutely content with waiting and trying to be as polite as we could, the servers kept telling waitresses they needed to wait to take our order and the main server was rude and short with us. She became even more rude when we were paying for our orders and kept talking poorly of us to other patrons waiting for food. Our orders ended up coming out before the other tables, even though she placed theirs first, so she took all her anger out on us?? People at their table outside were loudly talking about how terrible me and my friends were and how angry they were that we got our food first, even though their food came out hot minutes later. I left over a 20% tip for a ticket of two items - fish and chips and an order of fries, despite the disappointing experience, because I can imagine it must be irritating to deal with busy tourists all day. Might be best to pursue other employment, though, if you can’t even stand to take 3 to-go orders at lunch time. We paid over 30 dollars for two pieces of fish and cold and stale fries. Don’t get me wrong, it was really tasty and probably would’ve been worth the dining in. However, to be so blatantly rude to people who are understanding of your business - PAYING for service - and being short and cranky because you had TWO tables of people and the rest were empty when we wanted to place a to-go order is just beyond ridiculous. 3 orders of fish and chips and 1 “basket” of fries that ended up being a single handful cost us over 80 dollars with 3 CANS of soda and tips. We each got 2-3 pieces of fish (unsure how many are expected in their entree).
Overall if you’re a tourist in any way (we are only from Corvallis,,,like be for real) AVOID THIS PLACE. They charge more to tourists and give locals a discount (that’s cool and I don’t have a problem with that, but kind of funny how you treat everyone like garbage and then charge them more for less food, don’t you think?)
I hope this waitress has a better day, and that hopefully we just caught them on a bad time. She seems like a lovely person, but the shortness and the rushing us through and talking bad about us to other customers wasn’t a good look. I understand it was a Saturday and we’re tourists or whatever, but your town is full of tourists REGARDLESS and you’re a business providing service, so I don’t see the point of ruining your day more by being super rude to people who were trying to make the inconvenience easier on you. We are grateful for the service we received and we hope to dine in and catch them during the off-season, but not pleased at all so far with how our first interaction with this business went. I don’t even leave reviews and yet here I am. I hope they had fun talking bad about us and had a better rest of their day, but if you don’t feel like waiting to be ignored and treated poorly, maybe go to one of the other hundreds of restaurants identical to this one somewhere else...
Read moreI went into Fishtails this morning with my parents who insist the chicken fried steak is the best in town. I'm not one for chicken fried steak so, they may be correct about that but the three times I have been there I've always been underwhelmed.
I had a southwestern omelette which comes with pesto and sour cream, and red peppers, mushrooms, and ham. My omelette was runny, and raw. The peppers were not cooked at all, and the ham looked like it came from a package of sandwich meat. I barely ate any of it because it was so disgusting, and I'm not even picky! My daughter always gets their pancakes, they will make the cakes into fun little patterns for the kids like Mickey or Minnie Mouse, or a rabbit. And you can't really mess up pancakes. Anyway, she also got bacon which was raw.
I'm shocked to see the amount of good reviews for Fishtails. Their breakfast is sub par AT BEST. The decor looks like someone threw up the late 70s all over the building. It's not charming it's dated. Which is shocking considering the close proximity to the Oregon Coast Aquarium which generates crowds all year round. The owners need to invest in an update. In addition to that the table cloths and napkins smell musty, I doubt they're laundered very often.
Next, there's always a gentlemen working there who is pleasant. I don't know his name but whoever he was working with this morning, some woman waitress, her behavior was appalling. She was rolling her eyes, clearly stressed out, and making snide remarks about how she must be the only one who knows how to make coffee. I despised the way she spoke to the kitchen staff. My fiance is a chef and no one working their tails off in the kitchen deserves to be spoken to like a peasant by the wait staff. No one. And the gentlemen working there was clearly not pleased with her attitude either. Advice to management....get rid of her. I almost said something to her but instead I figured it best to just review the place. And hope to bring the attention to the owner.
The food might be alright for lunch, I looked at other pics from other guests and their lunches looked decent. Not 4.3 stars good, but maybe 3 stars. I'm not trying to be a monster but I am local and I have given this establishment 3 times to change my mind and opinion of this restaurant. Each time was more disappointing than the last. I get it, sometimes the kitchen is off, sometimes there are variables that can effect atmosphere or food quality. But I mean, come on. The location alone should force the owner to produce better food. Take advantage of the established reputation, foot traffic, and give South Beach significantly better quality. The whole place needs an update and to be invested in. The staff seemed to be drowning this morning (Tuesday, August 8th), and that waitress was one of the most unpleasant people I've ever seen waiting tables. Do not allow your team to talk down to the...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about FishTails Cafe‼️‼️‼️🤩😍🤩 While taking our Furbabies out for a walk I started getting dizzy & feeling so, I needed food quickly but I needed “Real Home Cooking” no fast food, I looked up food near us & Fishtails Cafe came up.
I just instantly got a good feeling about them so as soon as we got the Furbabies settled back in the motel room we headed over & got there at the perfect time, we missed the breakfast crowd & got there right before the lunch crowd. I knew we were in the right place as soon as we walked in, fun & happy atmosphere, we were greeted with a warm, sincere welcome & big smile‼️‼️‼️
Unfortunately because of my condition I had to choose something pretty simple & quick, I was super bummed that I didn’t get to try what I wanted 😢 So eggs, bacon & potatoes for us. When I asked if “muffin” meant English Muffin I was told “Nope a lemon blueberry muffin” …. Oh she had me right there , but then Mom turns around with a big smile & tells her us that they were freshly baked homemade muffins‼️‼️‼️ Uhm Yes Please‼️‼️👍🏼😊
Food is beyond awesome, our eggs were both perfect, my scrambled weren’t runny & not overcooked & my husband said his over medium “were the best he’s had in a long time!!!”, the potatoes were perfectly seasoned with a crispy outer & a soft inside, bacon was great & my muffin…. OMG I could’ve eaten a dozen so yummy‼️‼️‼️
Unfortunately due to not feeling good & needing to eat I didn’t get to take pictures of our food or the inside of the Cafe & I wasn’t my normal overly talkative self & didn’t asked the Ladies’ names 😢😢 & didn’t get to thank them nearly enough‼️‼️‼️
However my BFF & I are going on an adventure soon & I know one place we are definitely going to stop is Fishtails Cafe‼️❣️‼️
Thank You soooooo much Ladies‼️‼️‼️ A perfect meal & Amazing people at Great place‼️‼️‼️
Food: Excellent Service: Awesome & Friendly Price: Extremely reasonable for Home cooked Food
P.S. I even overheard one of the other guests say that they wished they could get one of everything on the...
