Mummy Lue African Food — Local services in Niles

I happened to see Mummy Lue on Doordash a week or two ago. I had always wanted to try authentic African cuisine so I jumped at the opportunity. On my first visit there I ordered the jollof rice with chicken. It was one of the best meals I have ever eaten and I wholeheartedly reccomend it if it's your first time having African food. I didn't recognize many of the spices used in the dish so it was an extra special treat to try all the new flavors. It came with plantains and a side of potato salad that made a great addition. Also, the portion of food they give you is very good for the price. I can make 2 or 3 meals out of one order of jollof rice and chicken, and I'm a bigger guy with a big appetite.

The restaurant is very clean and the staff members are very friendly.

Since then I have tried the egusi with fufu, and light soup with pounded yam. Both meals were absolutely delicious and I would love to eat them again.

My favorite thing about Mummy Lue is that they do not start cooking your good until it is ordered, meaning every meal comes out piping hot and fresh. It is well worth the wait.

Also it should be noted that you can let the staff know how spicy you like your food. Be sure to include that in the special instructions if you are ordering on Doordash. I prefer spicy food myself and one time I forgot note that when putting in an online order. It was still absolutely delicious, just less spicy.

The hospitality was superior! I felt like I was at an aunt or uncle's home. It was nice seeing two restaurants cohabitate with one another and flourish n thrive. We ordered the samosas from Kate's Kitchen and paired them with their oxtail gravy. I loved my jollof rice and chicken, my daughter tried the egusi and she loved the palm oil flavor. My bf had a special recommended dish but wasn't happy with the tough meat and the portion (2 pcs of meat with mostly bone) for the price he was charged. Finally a west African restaurant! 😅♥️ The service is a 10/10! The food is a 10/10! Authentic! I love it. They run out fast on things that are “tik tok popular” so make sure to call and place your order. Also, African food is NOT fast food. It will take atleast 30-1hr to get your meal. CALL AHEAD. They are also new and a small business for now so give them time. The location is in the same building as the daycare/school so do not think you’re in the wrong place. Just look for the sign.
