Got delivery. I ordered the fatty tuna, fatty salmon, white tuna, all as sashimi, and peach oolong tea as well as edamame. I asked for lemon and soy sauce served in a condiment cup vs getting a couple of pockets (can't really dip when it's a packet). Also asked for the peach oolong to be served with ice.

The peach oolong tea came in a can. They could've made the very minimal effort to put into a drink cup to at least appear better for the price. I got a few anorexically thin slices of lemon in a condiment cup... sooo they have condiment cups... but they just gave me a few packets of soy sauce... fortunately I had a leftover condiment cup from Momiji so used scissors to empty the packets into it (they didn't have a spot to easily tear) since that was too difficult for Sushi Taro to figure out. The fatty salmon was okay. Didn't taste fishy but didn't taste great. Also appeared they seared one side of it, which was not noted in the description. I get sashimi for it to be raw, not seared. Further... I love tuna but both the fatty tuna and white were distinctly fishy. Edamame is hard to mess up. Fortunately they didn't so much. Could've used salt. I just salted it myself. Won't order again nor visit this place. Over $60 for a trash meal. Google hasn't been letting me upload photos for some reason but once it does, I will...

Our experience at Sushi Toro was incredible. I had seen some of the beautiful rolls that people had taken pictures of in the Google reviews and set my heart on trying a few. The restaurant itself is warm, clean and inviting, the staff is so lovely and welcoming. Now the Sushi... It's OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Everything we had was delicious, fresh and so beautifully presented you almost didn't want to eat it. Exactly as it should be. Upon learning that one of the rolls I had wanted to try wasn't available because it was a special that they only made once a week, I was a tad disappointed but not really because there was so many other amazing rolls that I would just come back at a later date for that one. Well , the sushi chef would have none of my being disappointed and put one together for me... The MATCHA roll was exactly as yummy as I had hoped. Thank you for the lovely hospitality and delicious sushi. We will be back...

Just visited Japan for 2.5 weeks in June 2023. No idea why this has such high marks - would never recommend coming here. They put hot food in the carryout bag with sushi - all sushi was warm to room temp when eaten. Much of the fish was slimy. One item was completely rotten and could not be eaten (tasted like sewer). Gyoza tasted like a Chinese buffet dumpling - heavy, solid filling and strong oil flavor - not Japanese style gyoza. The sushi rice was not properly prepared and pieces could not be picked up without sticking to each other and falling apart. Meal was not edible. We had to throw half of it away after attempting to get through it. With 5 people working on a sushi line they should know their product and do a taste or smell test before serving. I do hope we are not vomiting later as one of my children could smell the off fish before...

This place is an 8.5 or 9 out of 10 but it's better than the sun of its parts. We ordered a good selection of food and it was all good. The ambiance was good, chill, the service was prompt and attentive. Presentation was immaculate. The fish was really spectacular and tasted great. Soft, beautifully sliced, and no sticky slimy to be felt. Can especially recommend the white Flint roll, very creative blend of flavors and textures. The only complaint is that the nigiri construction could be better. It was too little rice to the point where the fish to rice ratio felt skewed and the necessary support under the fish was not present. There was also no adhesion of fish to rice, leading to the nigiri falling apart often. Maybe a small dab of wasabi or slightly stickier rice will remedy the problem. Still a great sushi restaurant and worth a visit.

As a major sushi lover, I’m always on the lookout for fresh, high-quality sushi, and Sushi Toro has officially become my go-to spot! The food here is incredibly fresh, and every bite was absolutely delicious. I sat at the bar and treated myself to a large lunch, and it truly hit the spot. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but that just adds to its cozy charm. Plus, there’s plenty of parking, which is always a plus. The service was a little slow, but I believe that’s because the restaurant was full when I visited. That said, I appreciated that they don’t rush you—they give you time and space to fully enjoy your meal. I love sushi not only for how delicious it is but also for how healthy it can be, and Sushi Toro delivers on both fronts. If you’re a sushi fan, I highly recommend checking this place out!

We recently moved back to the DMV and have been looking for a great place for sushi in Montgomery County, and I'm happy to say that we've found it. My family appreciates simple sushi done well, and Sushi Toro does not disappoint. The fish is fresh and the sushi is delicious. My husband said, "I give them all the stars" and my kid already has asked to go back. Stand-out maki rolls for me include yellowtail and the salmon mango, which is a pleasant flavor combination that I have never had before. The miso is rich and portions are generous. Heads up that the restaurant does not serve any alcohol, so no sake for you! Please note that the restaurant has only 4-5 tables, so plan accordingly if you're not ok sitting at the sushi bar. Service always is friendly, but sometimes inattentive.
