My wife was here in January for a breast biopsy. She was seen by a Dr. Corinne Lynch. We had been told that the procedure would be done at the Irwin hospital by four different staff members at Westmoreland Hospital, which apparently means here. We were going to double check the day before when they called that this was the place, but never received a phone call, so figured we'd just wing it. We went in, no idea on where to go, no one in the facility was capable of giving us any more than just vague hints of try this or that desk. So we finally stumbled upon the mammogram area with fifteen minutes to spare still. The nurse which came in was polite and spent 20 minutes going over insurance information with us. When my wife was summoned for the procedure I was told that it would be appreciated if I would just wait in the waiting room for her to return, which I figured that's fine, all she had to do was go in, have the procedure done, that was that. Now I had googled a breast biopsy before going into this. I had read, as i already assumed, you get a tissue sample taken for testing, simple enough. At no point did i read anything about a marker being implanted (except for in optional cases). At no point did i even meet the doctor doing the procedure. It was mentioned to my wife pretty much as an after thought that they were implanting a marker into her for future reference about the location of the testing. My one star review doesn't come from the fact that my insurance company was charged $7094.77 ($2,500 of it I had to pay) for this procedure plus a mammogram from Excella health and Dr. Lynch. It doesn't even matter to me that much that I never even met the woman or that we went through all the confusion of finding where to go. I cannot stand the fact that no one could be bothered to explain the procedure ahead of time to us, regardless of how basic. My wife tends to panic when told things last minute, so neither of us had any say over whether or not to inject this "marker". The first thing I said to the nurse on the way out when I found out is that I would have said no to this whole thing if I would have known ahead of time that something was going to be implanted. They assured me oh this is standard operating procedure, blah blah blah, well now my wife is having chest inflammation which is causing a lot of pain an discomfort, and now we get the choice between her just living with it, or spending another minimum of $10,000 in surgery to get it removed.
Bottom line: I wish ALL health care professionals could take the time to be transparent with patients, instead of just treating us all like...

None of the doctors are really doctors, they don't care about treating you, and half the time they don't even know what they're doing!
I've gone here for several years for multiple issues, stemming from chronic bronchitis to dysphagia (which they initially denied but said in a letter months after i quit going to tell me i need a $3,000 procedure for it), and not only have I literally been told by "specialists" that I'm "faking it" or it's "allergies" or they "don't see anything," but in 5 years I've probably spent a combined total of 20 mins actually talking to whoever is checking on me, only to be prescribed the same ineffective meds which never work (half the time it's allergy stuff) with a nasty attitude from everyone when I either questioned or argued any of it. Icing in the cake is being frowned upon because I never got the jab and pushed to get it like that would solve all my non-related problems like, I don't know, a possible infection in my mouth!
Now I live with a scarred throat and messed up voice (detrimental as a now-former singer) and I struggle to sleep at night because of an hyperactive salivary gland combined with troubles with swallowing... all due to problems that never got properly resolved or never resolved at all.
Only twice have I ever gotten any sort of proper help, and it was from two assistants whom I never saw after but were able to literally look at and listen to me and tell me "I could see right away thats strep throat" and "yeah, that pneumonia is pretty bad, it should've gotten checked sooner" before prescribing me the correct medications, whereas every other time I'd have symptoms progress for MONTHS!
The best part of it all? I get told out of nowhere that despite my old insurance saying it's accepted and covered, they not only decided "that's the ONE insurance policy 'we' don't accept, I know it's confusing" before sending me two to three bills for basic visits and procedures AFTER THEY WERE PAID AND I SHOWED PROOF OF RECEIPT!
That entire facility needs to be shut down if it continues to operate like that, especially toward anyone with much more serious issues than myself. Sure, healthcare is complex, but I've had other doctors, within and out of the same facility, comment on things that were allowed to get worse. Healthcare is expensive as it is and my life literally changed for the worse following multiple...
Read moreI had a mammogram done that was supposed to be faxed to my doctor in Pittsburgh. When I went to my appointment with her seven weeks later they still hadn’t received it. I had an ultrasound done and they were supposed to fax it to my doctor and again they didn’t. It was 10 days later and I called and ended up having to call back to talk to the boss she was very nice but said they were faxing it now and she lied because it wasn’t faxed until four days later. They seem to not care and are lazy and incompetent. The manager of the ultrasound department was supposed to call me back and never did that is why I’m giving...
