I rented a shelter at Dagg park for a kids summer birthday party. It turns out that after checking the weather a week in advance, there is a high chance of thunderstorms, it will also be 90 degrees. I call up to North KC parks and rec and verify that they will in fact shut off the sprayground if there are thunderstorms. So I ask what can we do about this? Because I canāt have a birthday party on a 90 degree day with no water to cool off in, thatās WHY I rented it and paid $80+ with a $50 deposit for a tiny three table shelter. They can do NOTHING to work with me and if I cancel or donāt show up I lose my deposit as well as the price of the shelter. I can pay another $25 to move it to another day and worry about the same thing, not to mention the hassle. All I heard about was policies- well if your policy doesnāt take this outcome into consideration then it needs to be altered. Because itās currently in the best interest of you, not the customer. It is an unbelievable scam to not offer any other help on an issue that is equally out of my hands as it is theirs; weather. If I am losing access to half of what Iāve paid for, then accommodations in the form of a partial refund should be made.
Update: no rain that day, but I had the joy of showing up to an unmarked shelter and an entire other bday party set up in my spot. Had to ask these people to move and clean up after them, which of course delayed my party. Nightmare. The parks & rec person showed up with my name tag half-way through the party. Again,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe team at NKC P&R went ABOVE & BEYOND. They make a great team and it showed throw their work, their hospitality, their kindness and thoughtfulness for their vendors and the people who came to shop. They were very patient, being that it was my first show and I appreciated that more than they know. I also got to know the office staff and others who worked there such as Coti, GK, Heather, Victoria, etc. and they all took great care of my family and I. The staff were very organized and made sure things were properly in place for us the ENTIRE weekend. You all keep doing what youāre doing. I am still amazed by how amazing you guys were...

Now it's only for rollerskating and bikes? Also it's like a second dog park, so even if you've got your skate you're gonna be dodging...
