"Love Travels" Having a long-distance love can be a perfect opportunity to be creative! As long as love is nurtured, it will always grow. My partner, Iani, gifted me the most beautiful earrings and a lovely elephant ring from Positively Africana during his recent travels to see me and celebrate love. His choice to shop at Positively Africana was perfectly fitting, as their brand provides authentic labors of love from the beautiful, distant lands of Africa. Love Travels from hand to heart and is well nurtured by Aimee and her team at Positively Africana. The effort put into the art, means all the more to the receiver of the gift. Love is about thoughtfulness and long-lasting gestures. "Aimee was present, attentive and helpful during my time shopping at Positively Africana. The store offers elegant handcrafted jewelry made by artists in Africa." Iani shared with me as my eyes sparkled in awe. I admire the elegant, organic nature that my gifts have that are well accompanied by their long-lasting quality. They will be cherished capsules of love for years to come. It is exciting to me that a brand such as Positively Africana is placed in the heart of our Northampton Thornes Market to bring a celebration of diversity and authenticity to the community. Supporting the gifts and talents that other parts of the world can share is a most precious gesture of appreciation for life. Supporting businesses like Positively Africana can help African families continue to live healthy and joyfully, simply by shopping for a loved one on Valentine's Day. Be a part of the movement and support African artists spread their love. Help Love Travel. -Heyley...
Read moreBeautiful collection that compliments Beautiful energy from the owner.
I wasn't caught by the positive theme, but I was caught by the copper bracelets and the kind welcome from the owner, Aimee. Most of the work is identified by country of origin, and backed by a stories of culture and purpose. Jewelry and clothes made by entrepreneurs and talented artist that demonstrates the beauty of uniquism, and non corporate, non commercialized, true craftsmanship.
Caught by the copper, I didn't purchase them. Beautiful and reasonably priced, $35. I decided I had enough copper. Copper jewelry I believe was identified as made in Congo.
I was attracted to the patterned blazers/jackets, these tops were too small for me, im a men's medium. Jackets I believe made by the owner and or designed by the owner.
I lastly was attracted to these beautifully patterned fabrics that I thought were rugs. Mugcolth, I believe from Mali. Hand woven, and dyed. I dint take a photo of the patterned ones but I'll share the two solid coloth cloths I bought. After looking into the history and spiritual meaning of the fabric, I'll use it for somthing more purposeful than a rug, maybe a jacket, throw of a sorts, or table covering. The cloths average 5ftx3ft. Feel tough, are hand wash only.
The positive vibe, and mascot doll are cute but they do not match the energy of the chic, polished or sophisticated looks of the inventory. My opinion. But I am glad I to have found this while on my journey through Northampton. It's located next to many other unique and local...
Read moreI have been working out and spending time with Aimee since I met her almost 7 years ago. She was instantly someone I could feel comfortable around. I was already doing Zumba and loved it so here was an opportunity to incorporate more session into my routine. It turned out to be one of the happiest decisions in my life. Her style and enthusiasm for teaching immediately got me hooked. When Aimee moved some classes online it was a windfall for me. She added Strength Training and Strong classes in addition to her distinctive Africana Zumba. I am not a kid anymore, soon turning 75, but I am very lucky to have a great deal of determination about staying healthy and fit. No matter how my day may have started out, taking her classes (still online for me) totally energizes me, lifts my spirits and helps me feel like I can accomplish anything! Engaging with Aimee and the other folks who sign on Zoom has given me a wonderful community. I look forward to every session with her unique approach, her great playlists and the moves she has me doing. With all my determination I had no idea how much I could really do. She has guided me and I am grateful for her giving spirit. I am grateful to be able to call her my friend as well as teacher. I have lots yet to learn. Her Africana shop has beautiful things and is also a wonderful way to share her love of all things Africana....
