Nope! Mislabeled stones/crystals, many fake.
Cultural appropriation to the max via unethically sourced merchandise of a variety of Indigenous peoples including those from other countries and continents in addition to those of North and South American Indigenous Nations while having a lack of knowledge on how to use these items respectfully; they have not had the teachings they may claim to have, and then price at top dollar. These things include bones, feathers, and other miscellaneous ceremonial items.
Selling novelty merchandise along with these items, including other spiritual/metaphysical items feels extra wrong as if they are not taking it seriously or as if they are making fun.
Profiling of those of differing in culture, diversity, those appearing to be hetero-normative.
Will prey on individuals who appear to be new to spirituality or metaphysics (ex: tarot decks, tarot readings, any other types of readings, magic/k, stones/crystals, herbal medicine, use of spiritual energies or gifts one may have, new to stones/crystals, anything else along these lines.)
The rituals are multifaceted and provide uncomfortable energy. They call to angels, gods/goddesses from an array of pantheons and religions, oh and God. Throw in some white sage, fire, smoke, candles, moon water, a free tea and perhaps a honey tasting to make it "less confusing and more community oriented". It's just... not. It is cliquey as far as community goes so this is not the place for ritual nor community either.
Using hubris to overcompensate or being willfully ignorant and selling this stuff in this way does not make me trust anything about this place or the people there in. None of it is going to make any of these things right with me.
Buy authentic Indigenous items from authentic Indigenous peoples, wherever they may be from. Find natural and authentic stones and crystals which all exist in true nature either in nature or at stores who carry them and can explain to you how they know they are natural and authentic. Find spiritual people who actually know what they are doing. Learn in a positive way in which you are confident leaving no question in your gut about whom you are receiving your teachings. Buy from places that will not profile nor exploit either you, your spirituality/beliefs/theology, or your ancestors.
Believe in yourself that you can find what you need in the best of ways; no one hurt in the process. Be the human who buys in a way because you are a good human, not out of convenience or following them into their pit of their own willing ignorance and hubris. Pass on the good stuff and leave the rest. You've got this, you've got yourself, they don't have...
Read moreI was visiting from Arizona and stopped into Spill the Tea Sis on May 8th with my mentee during a whirlwind college visit to Smith—and WOW, we absolutely loved this store! From the moment we walked in, we were surrounded by the most amazing scents, adorable pins, cozy teas, journals, candles, and all kinds of thoughtful, fun gifts. It's truly one of those places where you want to buy something for everyone and yourself.
What made our experience even more special was the incredible staff, especially Devon. She was so welcoming, helpful, and genuinely kind. Devon answered our questions, gave us great local tips (including recommending Smith's greenhouse—so worth the visit!), and shared insight about recent pride events in the area. The connection they made with us was real and meaningful.
My mentee has been going through a tough time, and Devon’s warm presence and care felt like a little moment of magic. It wasn’t just customer service—it was compassion. It's like Devon knew we needed a little extra sprinkling of loving-kindness. That moment reflected not only the heart of this beautiful store but also the spirit of Northampton itself.
And here’s the cherry on top: my mentee decided to choose Smith College as her school! So now we’ll be back often—and you can bet this shop will become one of her new favorite spots. Thank you, Devon and Spill the Tea Sis, for being such a bright, lovely part of...
Read moreAs a practicing Witch for more than 25 years, I can tell you this shop has all the magical tools you'll need to enhance your metaphysical practice or to bring a little bit of magical decor into your home. Once you open the door you'll be warmly welcomed and surrounded by a carefully curated selection of crystals, teas ans candles that are all blended and poured in shop. In addition, you'll find mugs, home and garden decor, bath and body items, and a whole section of children's books and stuffed animals. My favorite part of rhe Apothecary, aside from those who work there and the owner, are the Full Moon rituals and Sabbat celebrations. To be among like minded others in sacred space is something quite special, but to be able to experience it while feeling like I fit in is indescribable, as it is a new feeling.
At Spill The Tea Sis Apothecary, the possibilities are endless and always magical!
On a personal note, Spill The Tea Sis Apothecary has sort of become my home away from home. I'm not from the area and I'm disabled, which makes making friends difficult. Not only is this shop magicklal, but the owner and staff like extended family and I am grateful that the Universe saw fit to make sure our...
