I went to the Matthew Gray Gubler book signing and I've never been to an event so disorganized.
The way they tried to organize it was that each person was assigned a number and you had to wait for your group number to be called in order to see him, and he had well over 900 people to see.
I understand the circumstances under which the bookstore was under, and that they cannot control how long Matthew spends with each person nor compensate with his management. That was not an issue for me, I would not have minded waiting hours on end if I knew I would eventually meet him. The issue was that I was waiting hours (it's 12:00 am at this point) for them to say they are at number 200 and an hour goes by and they are still at number 200. You mean to tell me an hour went by and the number has not moved up? Only to find out that if you sucked up to the staff or made up an excuse that you had a plane to catch (which many people lied about) that you were let in early.
There was a good period that the staff wasn't even checking numbers so anyone could have been let in at that point, including people who didn't even sign up for the event. I waited another two hours and realized the staff would just keep letting people in without checking numbers.
I was so fed up with this staff. Shame on them for not organizing this better and for not being fair. Also, I called the store before hand to see where my number was in the event, and the employer told me to get there an hour later because Matthew likes to take his time with his fans and I probably wouldn't be seen at my assigned time. So the bookstore knew that this event would probably take a lot of time and still decided to sell 900 tickets. What did they expect was going to happen.
I feel bad because I understand the stress and pressure they must have been under with that many people and it going on for so late, but the way the handled it was embarrassing and completely unfair to the people who tried to oblige to...
Read moreI'm usually not one to leave reviews (especially negative ones) but what happened at the Matthew Gray Gubler meet n greet last night was an absolute disaster and embarrassment to the reputation of this probably very nice bookstore.
From start to finish this was a disorganized and preventable mess. My best friend, boyfriend, and I were assigned numbers 298, 299, and 300 and were told that our time would be approximately 5-6 pm. Next thing you know it's midnight and Matthew just broke meeting 200 people.
Turns out, people were being let in despite their numbers by giving excuses and getting extra friendly with the staff. Individual people were also spending upwards of 10-20 minutes with Matthew. Don't get me wrong, it is incredibly kind of him to appreciate and want to spend time with fans, but it's also unfair to the hundreds of people waiting outside in the cold (especially for those there for a quick hello, picture, and signature).
The part that gets me is how easily ALL of this could've been avoided by the bookstore's management. They knew very well they couldn't handle the capacity and size of this event and the fact that over 900 tickets were sold was a greedy and money-hungry move. Then, the interactions with Matthew should've been limited to about 1-2 minutes per person the second this event went past the store's closing hour.
Finally, the store letting in people in through their bogus excuses (and even letting some people in who didn't have tickets) was what did it for me and led us to leaving at 12:30 am. I knew that our numbers wouldn't be announced for another few hours, so staying felt pointless and exhausting. Turns out, I was right because I found out at 3:30 am they were only up to approximately number 270.
The only thing I regret from this day was not going home sooner so our time, money, energy, and gas wouldn't be wasted. This store should be ashamed for how this day was handled and should never hold an event of this...
Read moreI went to go meet bob odenkirk today, let me start of by saying he was an absolute gem the nicest person i have ever met ever! i was super excited we took a picture with him i brought my pop to try to get signed that i spent 140 on it was in beautiful condition took me forever to find this pop and he signed it couldnât have been a better day. The nasty lady with black curly hair who took our photo threw my phone on the funko pop with the freshly signed paint pen. Whole thing ruined the signature was all ruined all the girl could saw was whoops enjoy after she just saw she messed the whole thing up and i said whyâd you throw my phone on it. i mean i thought it was common knowledge to not throw a phone on a signed item GUESS NOT LOL ! literally couldnât be more mad like imagine driving 2 hours to meet one of your favorite actors on your favorite shows get his book and get something that you always wanted and thought you never would have ruined in .5 seconds because this lady who couldâve waited .1secs to hand me my phone personally like what everyone else in the world does but she couldnât do that. i mean the nice gentleman next her did that for the group of people in front of us who got something else signed he waited for the group to safely get their item and then handed him his phone donât know what her problem was but she literally ruined a 140 dollar item. hopefully she learns to maybe not do that again if she even cared cause it seems...
