Paris Baguette — Restaurant in Northvale

I was visiting this part of the town and decided to stop here and get my fix of caffeine. They have a large selection of bakery items and very courteous staff. The place is impeccably clean and organized. Service is quick and efficient. Prices are very reasonable and that by itself is a big plus. They have a nice service style where you can pick up stuff from display cases in a tray and bring it to the counter. Ordered a Latte and blueberry muffin and sat down and enjoyed it over some social media surfing. The muffin was ok, and the latte was decent. As a bakery, this place is one of the best you can visit, but as a coffee shop I found it lacking. If you're not very particular about your coffee drinks, this place is a must visit and you'll leave happy and satisfied. I'm not sure why they have automated Lavazza machines to make your coffee. To me, it seems that they have decided not to put too much effort into training staff in coffee-making and just want to use a machine to churn out espresso drinks. Maybe Im just too touchy about my espresso drinnks, and someone else might have no issues with the coffee that's served here. No complaints from me, though. The service was horrible. The cashier had no clue what she was doing. I ordered a birthday cake for my son, and it took her five business days just to figure out how to press “cake” on her LCD screen. Even when she was supposed to collect payment, she was still confused and fumbling with the register.

I asked her if the knife would come with the cake. She responses NOTHING—kept her head down, staring at the screen. I had to ask again, and only then did a man in the back step in, grab a knife, and ask me how many candles I needed.

After all that, the cashier never said sorry for the delay or confusion, and not even a simple thank you. Obviously, she doesn’t know what customer service is. I have no idea how this store can hire someone like that to be a cashier, the person who deals with customers the most.

Everyone I know loves this place! From the elegant, friendly atmosphere to the quality of food, desserts, and drinks, this place has been nothing short of perfect. I placed an order for New Year's Eve to bring a cake to a party and was running late to pick it up, so much so that the store had closed. I received a couple phone calls to inform me the store had closed but they were friendly enough to wait for me to come pick it up. This was a heartwarming experience as it showed the kindness of the holiday season. My girlfriend and I are big fans of the cake slices; we come to try something new, or relive our favorite: the chocolate ganache.
