Unbelievable experience here at this store today.
I got to the store today between 11-11:30am. I was meeting a potential buyer of my PS4. There were no other customers in there except for me, and the 2 people I was going to complete my transaction with. (check the cameras if you don't believe me.) The woman working there appeared to be latina with dark hair and glasses. I had my PS4 with me and AS I HAVE DONE FOR YEARS with Game Stops all over the Chicagoland area, I asked her to quickly check and show the 2 folks that the Playstation was working so they could purchase from me. I have NEVER had a problem with this until now. She told me, "I'm too busy and have other things to do right now. But I can check if you plan on selling it to us." Again, NO other customers in the store. I told her plenty of other Game Stops have gladly done this for me in the past and she still refused. So me and the other 2 customers proceeded to leave outside the store and stood about 10 feet away from the entrance in the mall.
There is NOTHING illegal about me selling MY property to someone else but she made me feel like a criminal. While we're standing OUTSIDE the GameStop store, she then comes around the counter and tries to persuade my potential buyers to come back in and buy a Playstation from them even though these were customers I found and were interested in buying the Playstation from me. I thought she was busy??? So she was able to come and try to take away from what I am trying to do but too busy to test my PlayStation? How did she know I wasn't going to use the money from my sale to buy something in the store? Why are several GameStops doing this but she refused to? She was rude from the start and treated me like I was some thief selling stolen property.
Granted, I understand that she is probably taught to encourage customers to do business with them but she literally tried to take a sale away from me on top of being rude and snotty. I have given Gamestop THOUSANDS of dollars but I won't anymore. This is partially why your business is hobbling and will most likely go out bankrupt in the coming months. I will never shop at any...
Read moreI've been a loyal customer at this GameStop location for 15 years, but recent experiences have been frustrating. On 8/31, I inquired about my Funko pre-order expected for release on 8/1. The salesman assured me that the shipment was in the back and that I would receive a call either before closing or on 8/1 to pick it up.
When I didnât receive a call on either day, I returned on 8/2. Kass, the saleswoman, informed me that due to a planogram redesign, they hadnât processed the new Funko items yet. She couldnât provide a timeline for when the pre-order would be ready and said sheâd call me once she had processed it.
This was particularly disappointing because, based on my experience, if a product is in the back but hasnât been shelved yet, staff usually process pre-orders from the stockroom to ensure customers receive their items on time. Kassâs failure to provide a clear timeline and her inability to prioritize pre-order fulfillment was a major oversight.
I returned minutes later after to cancel the pre-order. In the process of canceling the preorder Kass inquired whether my cancellation was due to not wanting to wait, I confirmed it was, especially since another store had the item ready for pickup. The lack of prompt service and communication made this a highly...

Iâve had some good and bad experiences at the GameStop located at The HIP. When itâs the Hispanic guy or the girl with black hair working, everything usually goes smoothly. Theyâre friendly, helpful, and create a chill environmentâexactly what youâd expect from good customer service.
Unfortunately, my experience hasnât been consistent. Thereâs a white female employee with blonde hair who really brings down the vibe. She tends to talk too much in a condescending way and gives off a judgmental attitude that feels uncomfortableâborderline discriminatory at times.
One specific situation really stood out: I was with a friend, a Black man in his 30s, who tried to buy an M-rated game. She asked him for ID, and when he didnât have it, she refused the saleâwhich is understandable by policy. But just moments later, we saw her sell a similar M-rated game to a group of white teenagers without asking for ID. That kind of double standard is unacceptable and honestly upsetting.
Itâs experiences like this that make people hesitant to shop here. GameStop needs to seriously look into how all customers are being treated, regardless of race...
