Their tea is really good, but both my husband and I had (separate) frustrating experiences there. From the start of my visit, they were attentive, which was great. However, when I mentioned I was browsing and asked about sample size options, I felt the energy shift to pushy as I was pitched teas at a rapid fire pace. I asked about the price of a sample bag and was qouted an amount. I picked a tea and asked for a sample bag of it, at which point I was told that I could not buy a sample bag of it; they only sell it in minimum, like, several ounces. I reminded them that they had quoted me the price of a sample bag but the young woman said, "Well, that was when we thought you were buying a bunch of samples" gesturing to all the tea canisters they had brought down from the shelves and insisted on having me "smell" (not on my request) while they pitched them to me... I never once stated any intention to buy "a bunch of samples". My social anxiety kicked into HIGH GEAR, but, luckily, I had the sense to tell them I was unwilling to pay nearly $100 for tea that they told me I could buy a sample of but now claim they could only sell to me at a minimum quantity of 3oz. They begrudgingly offered to sell me a little less when they saw I was ready to walk. In the end, I bought the salmaller amount and spent way more than I had wanted to when I walked in there.
My husband had a similar experience where they were vague and weird about pricing. He was shopping with my little girl for my birthday. He was ready to walk- and probably would have- if my daughter didn't have her heart set on getting me the tea she picked out for me. They haggled with him and he walked away with a smaller amount than they tried to sell him, but still spending way more...
Read moreThe lady was very friendly, but I would expect to spend a pretty dime here. When I asked about price, she said the prices so fast that it was just too fast to compute. I really think she could have slowed down to really talk it over because people are leaving angry reviews over being price gouged. Some teas don't seem worth it because you can get them elsewhere for a better price. However there are mixes here that you probably cannot get anywhere else. One whiff of the Guava Leaves Green Tea and I was hooked. I spent a lot of money, BUT she properly explained that I only need 2 tsp of leaves for my big 16 oz cup. I just made a cup and it was so good. I made a second cup reusing my leaves and it was still so good. It was expensive, but I think my giant bag will be lasting me for a very, very long time. (In hind sight, I wish I bought a smaller bag so that I could have just come back for a fresher bag later.) She's incredibly knowledgeable and super friendly. She wrote me instructions for both my tea and told me to call her if I had any questions. I really do hope that they last because it's so hard to find...
Read moreI had a very disappointing and frustrating experience at this tea shop. When I asked about the prices, the staff refused to give me a clear answer and just kept saying, “don’t worry, we’ll take care of you.” That should have been a red flag. When it came time to pay, I was shocked to be charged $200 for less than a pound of chamomile tea and just a half-pound of another tea.
Not only is that outrageously overpriced, but the lack of transparency and refusal to provide clear pricing beforehand feels extremely dishonest. A reputable shop should be upfront about costs and allow customers to make informed choices, not hide prices and overcharge at the register.
This kind of business practice is misleading and unfair. There are plenty of other tea shops that are honest and value their customers—I will not be returning here and strongly recommend others take their...
