EDIT and response
I am not “anonymous.” My name is Alyse Ellison, and I was your actual patient. My consultation with you lasted less than five minutes, I was never shown how to properly manage my drains, and when I rated my pain as a “10,” your staff dismissed me and told me it wasn’t. I also had to chase multiple corrections to my paperwork for returning to work, which caused unnecessary stress and delays.
And yes, my insurance was billed over $30,000 tied to this procedure. Whether you personally submitted it or it came through the hospital, it was tied to my surgery in your office. To publicly dismiss this instead of taking accountability only confirms my experience of being minimized and treated like a number instead of a patient.
Patients deserve honesty and compassion, not deflection. I just wish I would've read the ONE honest review (that was negative and MY exact experience) first, instead of all the fake ones.
My experience with Dr. Lofman’s office was extremely disappointing from start to finish. My consultation lasted no longer than five minutes, my surgery felt rushed, and I was never properly shown how to drain my tubes afterwards. When I reported pain, it was brushed off instead of taken seriously.
On top of that, paperwork was mishandled multiple times. While the office later claimed the corrections were “immediate,” the reality was that I had to follow up several times just to get things fixed. Instead of empathy or accountability, I was met with dismissiveness and attitude.
Because I wasn’t given proper aftercare, I ended up developing an infection and had to follow up with my dermatologist for treatment. I specifically voiced that my skin is prone to keloids and shared my concerns, but those worries were dismissed. What is the point of reconstruction if the aftercare is so poor and the patient isn’t listened to?
To be fair, structurally he did good work — but aftercare and skin care were horrible. I felt like a number rather than a patient deserving of empathy or attention. When I raised these issues, the office’s defensive response only confirmed why I lost trust in their care.
And to make matters worse, the office tried to bill my insurance over $30,000 for this procedure — an amount far above the market rate. I can’t help but feel that the financial side of things explains why I was treated like a number instead of a patient, especially since I’m sure my insurance ultimately refused to pay that full amount after negotiations.
I have since discontinued my treatment here and transitioned to another provider. I would not recommend this practice to anyone seeking thorough, compassionate, or...
Read moreI was really excited to get work done and relieve my neck/back pain I’ve been having for as long as I can remember. I went through all of the steps and the surgery center gave me my arrival time the day before. I get a call from the surgeons office and they tell me, “Dr. Lofman has an emergency so we had to cancel your surgery and reschedule you”. Honestly I thought it was a joke at first, but think okay when he’s good to go they will work on fitting me in the schedule seeing my surgery was tomorrow morning. When I ask them when they said June 28th. A whole 3 months later…and in the middle of the summer where I already have arrangements booked and paid for. That’s not going to work…and why so far away? Come to find out, if there is any reason your surgery needs to be cancelled and rescheduled at his office, they just put you last in line. LAST. Their solution was to put me on a cancellation list…Id understand if this was my fault, but it has nothing to do with me. I even asked why they couldn’t fit me in and their response was, “We don’t do that”. They told me this multiple times on the phone. This reminded me of a red flag I ignored in the beginning - my consult was also rescheduled last minute, and that too was a few weeks out because Dr. Lofman had a last minute meeting. Huh?? My experience is truly telling how they run their practice - it’s a for profit business only, and they do not put the patient first when there’s an ounce of inconvenience. Because he had another surgery scheduled tomorrow, so I am not the only patient that has been devastated. It very well could be his patients that had surgery scheduled next week and the week after that depending on what his emergency was. And I truly hope he’s okay, health is one of the most important things and it should come first.
I’d recommend anyone to go somewhere else in a heartbeat…this is the biggest disappointment and it’s so upsetting. I think we all understand things happen, but to do nothing to try to work with the patient on it is ridiculous. It’s like they think there’s no stress/fear of altering your body, and it’s so lost on them what we have to do to work up to having this. I’ve waited years to get to this point and they pulled the rug underneath my feet and had zero care. It’s a shame, because the work really does look great from the photos. Good luck if you schedule anything with him and I hope your experience is better than this crazy and heartless run...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences I have ever had leaving me feeling disfigured and dismissed. I had a breast reduction done about two years ago, and Dr. Lofman left me lopsided when I wasn't before. I have scoliosis so when he was doing his measurements they were off. I tried to warn him about this repeatedly and he didn't listen. He never asked me what I wanted, not once, his plan was always to do what he wanted. He cut me off, and generally treated me like I wasn't worth his time. I was going through insurance so my guess is this is one of the reasons. When I scheduled my surgery they had me come in to the office for a pre-op appointment but Andrew was acting like he had no idea why I was there. My surgery date was the following Friday and he asked me if I was going to schedule. I should have ran, I wish I had. After surgery the unevenness was almost immediately obvious but still he waited until I pointed it out before saying that it was obvious because he had eyes. If I hadn't been assertive enough to bring it up I'm sure he would have acted like it was fine and perfect forever. When I finally had had enough and put my foot down I asked if there was anyway to not keep going down sizes as the smaller of two is way too small. He basically gave me the same speech hed given me a million times about implants I don't want. He started getting frustrated with me when I said that the whole thing wasn't what I wanted at all. I asked if a fat graft would be an option and the energy was very "you want a fat graft? Fine I'll give you a fat graft" I accepted this and started scheduling my revision surgery (only about a month post op too, not healed at all) and suddenly because I was paying out of pocket there was a whole person to walk me through the process, and ask my opinions and such. I was getting furious at this point. I decided to get a second opinion and the other doctor looked mortified that he was trying to get me in for a revision so soon and told me I should at least wait a year. This is also when I found out that fat grafts only last about year, something literally nobody mentioned to me and definitely changed my mind on getting one. At this point I just gave up and never went back. Do yourself a favor and go see someone who's actually going to...
