Very disappointed & most likely will not be back until Management Changes are made. I am a longtime customer of this Restaurant. Over the Years the Employees, Management, and Food have changed a lot & unfortunately not for the better! When you eat at a restaurant as often as We do, you have to assume & expect there will be some issues here & there, but normally the server or manager will correct & fix them if there is a problem. Our horrible experience last Night this was not the case and the lack of action to properly correct the problem made the situation even worse. It’s a religious holiday currently and I am unable to eat certain foods for the week. My Girlfriend & I ordered a salad to share as an appetizer and we both ordered entrées. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop, I asked for it to please be cooked medium well as it’s a large bone in pork chop and I did not want it coming out raw. Unfortunately after waiting some time for our food we received our meals and I cut into it. The server did not wait to see if it was cooked properly and disappeared for sometime. I had to flag down a different server that I requested to rise back and correct the completely RAW Porkchop that was bleeding all over my plate & sides. It was suggested for me to keep the sides and eat them while the kitchen properly cooked the Raw Pork. I politely refused and explained I could get really sick from eat anything on the plate and kindly requested the sides to be remade Finally after 10 plus minutes the dish was returned to the table. Again no one waited to see if the temperature of the meat was correct & the same sides were served on the plate ice cold and bloody. I cut into the Pork Chop and the temperature was not even to medium rare. At this point the restaurant manager was sent to the table, She apologized for the issues. Than asked how she could make this right i simply told her I wanted the pork chop chopped medium + and the sides remade. This seemed to be a lot to ask for, the manager did offer to take this meal off the bill, I told her ii don’t mind paying for this something else, but I need to eat dinner. The manager than offered other food options that I could not eat because of my current religious holiday. I asked should I just take this still almost raw pork chop home and cook it myself to a proper temperature? She offered a box instead of a proper solution. I left Toasted Oak Hungry, with a box of Raw Pork, Raw Pork Blood covered sides. I was sick last night and this morning throwing up from the little I did eat. What makes matters worse is this is a Marriot Brand Hotel’s on property Restaurant - the Hotel Baronette in Novi Which I am Ambassador Elite with and stay 100 + Nights a Year with this brand. If I can’t get proper services here what should you expect. I highly suggest finding somewhere else to eat while visiting Novi. Unless you are a fan of poor service, horrible management and...
Read moreEdit: dropping from 2 to 0 stars I wanted to give Toasted Oak another try, this time I tried booking a party of 6 people for 6pm dinner. I booked reservations for the evening (both the restaurant AND hotel rooms) 2 1/2 months in advance, and today I received an email (from the third party reservation service, not Toasted Oak - they never contacted me directly) that Toasted Oak cancelled my reservations. I had to call to find out that it was due to a wedding that they just now booked. I asked what we could do as a workaround - I was just told nothing can be done. No other options, I'm just out of luck...and now I have to scramble to re-plan an evening for 6 people. cool. thanks. I have been to toasted oak countless times and never had a single disappointing meal - until last night. We went there for my birthday only to learn that there was a new head chef...and that the menu had been reduced by half its size - both the food and the drink. There used to be pages of wine from which to choose, last night there were about 6 options. The steak tips and morels, charred Caesar salad, flatbread pizzas, sausage and seasonal mustard appetizers, sautéed Brussels sprouts, Amish chicken, seasonal fish, hamburgers and sandwiches...many of our favorites had been removed from the menu. It seems in an effort to establish his presence at the restaurant, that the new chef may not have taken consideration into the existing menu and popular items, and rather made the decision to replace everything. The new menu options seemed like they were created with such a strong focus on making a statement of being Toasted Oak V.2, that they fall somewhat short. They seemed more like haphazard attempts at being haute couture cuisine. We ended up getting drinks and then going elsewhere for dinner. It was really disappointing.
On a positive note, the cocktail/wine that we had to drink were both very good, as was the service.
TLDR: the old food and drink menus are gone, the new ones are much shorter and the options...
Read moreI was so excited to go to this restaurant but left disappointed. I drove like an hour just to come to this restaurant and I’d say it’s not worth the trip at all. Here are the reasons why I’m rating it 1 star:
Ambience: Perfect, really well decorated. There’s a garden in front where you could see herbs that they probably use for cooking. 5/5
Food: I ordered a broccoli bisque and it was served cold and very under seasoned. The table has no salt/pepper shaker. Had to wait for a waitress to come by to get them. It took forever and the soup was already too cold to eat. I should have asked for a new cup but I didn’t. I usually don’t care how much you get for how much you pay but a tiny cup of soup that is so under seasoned and cold is definitely not worth $5. This would have been okay if the soup was good.
I went here during lunch time so I tried out their sandwiches. The food was so greasy and the bread was just ridiculously over toasted. I’m talking about two different sandwiches and two different buns. The baguette was so hard you could hardly chew it and the burger bun was so burnt you could hardly eat it. Sandwiches are the easiest to make yet none of the two sandwiches I ordered was good. 1/5
Service: Terrible. Our waiter hardly come by and we had to stand and look around for her to get our bill. 1/5.
Location: This is centrally located in Novi. Very easy access to expressway. Location is perfect if you live around Novi. 4/5
I am not going to drive for an hour just to eat at this place. I will however try their dinner menu one day if I’m around the area. If by then I get the same service and the same food quality, I will never ever recommend this...
