I recently ordered 20 wine glasses (10 red, 10 white) to be picked up for my daughter's 30th birthday celebration dinner at my house. I live 25 minutes from this store, so making a trip there and back is at least an hour and a half of my time with parking and minimal time in the store. I carefully planned my morning so that I could pick up the glasses and get to the grocery store and cook for 10 people that night. Got home after going grocery shopping and discovered i only received 9 red wine glasses :-(. Needless to say, I was very upset and called and spoke with one of the managers. She informed me that they didn't have any ability to have the glass delivered to me ( despite the fact that there are multiple courier services in Oakbrook that are available to do this on short notice, but apparently the store doesn't want to go the extra mile and expense for its customers to figure this out and pay for it), but said she would be happy take that one glass off my bill and have one shipped to me (obviously, that was not going to get there in time for my dinner). When I complained that just taking the glass off my bill wasn't fair compensation for the disappointment and inconvenience of discovering that I didn't have enough glasses for my dinner party, she offered to speak to her store manager about an "E-shop Card" and would also ship the "free" glass to me. So, as of the next day I have yet to receive a credit for the missing glass although I did receive an e-card today for a whopping $10. You'd think that the store would have realized that giving me the equivalent of barely 10% off my order (if even that) wouldn't show that they care very much about making up for their mistakes. Read moreHow long does it take to try to buy a table? 4+ hours. Actually drove 2 hours to validate we wanted the piece of furniture. Took 4 people to process a simple Visa payment due to a recent system upgrade…then to schedule a warehouse pick up was a struggle. When we first initiated the transaction our sales rep was great.
But the experience went totally down hill from there Took 4 reps to process the order and schedule us for a Naperville warehouse pick up. Two hours later we get a call. They wanted to send us a cancellation and a repurchase link. Said we never paid for it. Did not own up to their mistake, that they themselves had processed order incorrectly. Luckily we had stayed in the area to grab a sandwich. They sent us 3 payment pending emails. No cancelations, no explanations, and no additional payment link. We had to drive back to the store in Chicago traffic
Truth be told they had a fairly new system. One - they were not sure how to use. So we the customer paid the price. Two - lack of communication. Had to drive back to store to find out the table we paid for and thought we would pick up -was cancelled. And they wanted us to buy it again.
Sadly we could have had the same or better experience online. I would have been livid to have driven all the way home and get the call.
No one offered us a damn thing for our troubles. Not even a fricking $10 bucks off. Not a free vase or a meal in their cafe. Nothing. It was very discouraging. What is your time worth? You realize we have multiple cancels and pending purchases. Now we are considering cancelling the purchase entirely due to online reviews/issues with picking up the table at their warehouse. Read moreI purchased a Brabantia Matte Black Dual Compartment Bo Touch trash bin with pick up in store. This is a nearly $300 trash bin and this store attempted to give me a used, severely dented, out of box trash can. When I asked if there were other bins in box that I could be given, the sales person said they had no idea and walked away. The representative working the pick up area Becca, was an absolute horror. When she arrived back to the desk to assist me, I mentioned to her, that the other sales person hadn’t addressed my inquiry about an alternate bin. She immediately said there weren’t anymore without even looking in the system. She seemed to realize I noticed this and said, ‘oh let me see!’ And magically there were no other bins when she looked. I requested a refund of purchased which she processed, but she couldn’t give me a receipt claiming it would come via email. I still don’t have a confirmation of cancellation in my email. I work in architecture and design running a showroom for a major commercial manufacturer. Our entire collection of cutlery and plate ware for 40 guests, came from this company due to my suggestion. I personally have two Hugger sofas in my home amongst many other pieces. I am appalled that they tried to give me an opened box used item as if it were acceptable, with no explanation, then treated me as if I were a bother for requesting assistance getting a new item.
