Mott's Floral Design — Local services in Oak Ridge

My parents ordered a dozen roses for delivery for my birthday, in June. Unfortunately, the roses barely lasted 5 days.

I thought that odd. My family has been using Mott's for many, many years and nothing like this ever happened before. I know that a dozen roses are expensive, so I decided to call Mott's to discuss what happened.

I spoke with the owner and when I explained the situation she sounded panicked, immediately offering to have the roses replaced that same day.

I told her no way: it was Saturday and I didn't want her to re-make my arrangement plus do a delivery on their busiest day of the week. Monday would be fine, or even Tuesday. I said I called on a Saturday because I'd just thrown out the roses and wanted to follow up asap. I assured her I wasn't going to be an unreasonable diva. We laughed.

She thanked me profusely for my understanding. She sounded quite relieved that although I did not get what my parents paid for, I was going to be cordial and reasonable about the resolution.

Immediately after that, she did a complete 180. She suddenly pivoted, saying she would agree to replace the dozen roses with six, and she had to go.

I couldn't believe she shifted so quickly from being apologetic and quick to send out a replacement that same day to cold and rude and dismissive. Offering only 6 roses when it was a dozen my parents paid for.

I called back the next week. I left a message that I would be happy to discuss the delivery of the roses she promised. I left my name and phone number.

That was the end of June, and it's now September 10th - still no call back.

My sister told me that my parents were extremely upset and embarrassed that my birthday gift was botched. Dad was in hospice at the time of my birthday and this was the one present they were able to give. Dad was dying and Mom his only caregiver so they couldn't get out to find a birthday present for me.

The very expensive dozen roses that did not last long was my only birthday present from them this year.

Since the roses incident happened, we lost both my sister and my father. Friends and relatives have sent plants and floral arrangements to us in our time of mourning, and unfortunately, many of those folks used Mott's.

My birthday roses, while beautiful, were fully opened, not fresh blooms that barely lasted 5 days (see pics below). I was promised they would make this right and because I was considerate and friendly about it I was not taken seriously and therefore dismissed.

Adding insult upon injury, this company has made money off the death of not one but two family members who passed away last month.

I have done some research and found that the old owner who had the business for years sold it. This new owner does NOT honor her word and sends out flowers that are not always fresh. Worse, she took what could have been an easy fix - replace the fast wilting roses with fresh ones, as promised - and threw that out the window by ghosting me.

Sure, she can coast on the years long success of the previous owner. But eventually, it will come to light that she is not running this place at the same level of professionalism that the previous owner did.

There are other florists you can use in Oak Ridge, and I encourage you to seek them out for your plant and floral needs. This is not the same Mott's as before, and they treated me and my family...
