Iâm new to the area and was looking for a high end boutique type store for designer products. I was very happy when I found Cheapskates. So, on Monday Sept 23 I decided to visit their establishment. I was checking out their products, which look more warehoused and unorganized. I still have the store a chance and listened to the staff gossiping and talking about the business to a new worker. I found two pieces of clothing that were my size, and proceeded to the counter. I noticed they had imposter colognes, but was not interested in them. A blonde haired woman whom I believe was the owner. I found Vetiver de Guerlain on the counter, and was confused as to whether it was womanâs or menâs. It said Eau de Toilet, but with their tag on the top it said cologne. I was assured by the owner and one of the worker that it was Menâs cologne. Today before heading out I decided to spray some on me. The. I caught the scent and realized it was indeed a Womanâs perfume. I read the receipt, and was under the impression I could return it within 30 days. I decided to be proactive and return it today. I went to the counter and was patient until it was my turn. A young lady with a thick accent started assisting me. I explained to her what had happened, and requested a refund, I would have accepted a store credit as well. The young lady asked if I could enter my information into the system, but then she became very condescending towards me, and said because I had it for four days I couldnât return it. She even said it wasnât her problem. Iâll admit I became irate. Iâve run many businesses and have never treated a customer as if they were below me. She stated that she was the Manager. She obviously isnât a very good one if she believes being rude to a customer who has purchased a product and was misinformed by not just the owner, but by staff as well. Of course this elevated the situation. She talked to me as if she were superior. I told her I was going to file a complaint and she snickered at me, and rudely waved her hand at me to go away. I got more angry, and started to leave. She was yelling at me from behind the counter to get out. As I was leaving, she marched behind the counter, came up to my face, waved her arm in the air and almost smacked me in the face telling me to leave or she was going to call the police. Really? You have me enter my information in your system, and then deny me a return on something you all said was for me, and then force me to keep it? Needless to say, I will never do business with this store again. Iâve shopped many boutiques store in NYC, and Iâve always been met with complete professionalism. Iâm appalled that they would have a manager within the store who is not only condescending, but completely unprofessional. So, if youâre buying any designer menâs items from this store, be sure itâs actually for men, and donât let the staff talk you into it without being sure of your purchase. Iâm going to check all avenues of filing a complaint against this business. The item may have been only $30.00, but itâs the principal. I advise the owner to train your manager on how to act like a professional, and how to diffuse a situation instead of escalating it. If she were my employee, sheâd be written up. Iâm sure the other reviews that are a one star here are because of this same individual. Good luck having her. Youâre going to...
Read moreI donât recall catching her name, but we have had a back-and-forth for several weeks. Just recently, I finally sold a pair of Sketchers shoes and she remembered me. Which was impressive given that I hadnât been there in quite some time. If she reads this and wants to know who I am on the sly: Iâm the guy she said was calm and funny and should be a comedian. đ
I was trying to sell a pair of shoes that my late girlfriend - who died last year from breast cancer - had bought for our children, and she was very empathetic and sympathetic to the fact that it was hard for me to part with them.
The shoes themselves were nothing special. It was more a matter of keeping the children in line and making sure that it didnât become a point of contention between the two of them, given she had not decided who would get the shoes before she passed away.
She didnât have to sit and listen to my story, but she was attentive and compassionate, which had nothing to do with the sale itself. Given how customer service and the true art of being attentive to the customer is a dead art, I thought she did an exceptional job.
Unfortunately, I canât remember her name (In my defense, Iâm more of a face person. Once I see your face, Iâll never forget it.) but she was a dark skinned woman, lithe in appearance and talent, with a lot going on with her outfit. She also had a piercing on her nose I believe, and she carried herself like âmanagementâ the way she instructed several people while I was there.
I still believe in customer service. It can change the way you experience your time anywhere, let alone your willingness to purchase or engage regardless of the circumstances.
Overall, the store is quite unique in that it offers high-quality products to the public for reduced prices.
I think those prices could be reduced further given these are clothes people have worn before (hint hint cough cough and all that), but I will take that, as I said, because your staff, and this particular person, made the experience not only memorable,...
Read moreI went in only because the lady I was on the phone with told me they take a lot or brands I was skeptical due to the negative reviews, when I first came in they werenât really trying to say âhello welcome to cheapskateâ they were mostly converting between themselves and being on their phones, they really didnât seem like they enjoyed helping that much, they told me it would take about 15 minutes which is understandable, I looked at the items that they had in stock. they had some similar items to what I brought in as soon as I walked out not even 2 minutes they called and let me know that my items werenât what they weâre looking for which is completely acceptable but what made me question them was I had over 15 items I donât know how in less then 2 minutes they were able to determine that they didnât want to sell I wish they had let me known thatâs they werenât even interested at looking at my items instead of wasting my time, I had asked why they didnât want certain items just to get clarification I was told some items were older then 2 years old and because they said they were âtoo old fashionâ which there store if full of âold fashionâ items I really wish they were more professional and just let me know that they werenât interested from the moment I walked in. I felt their energy wasnât going to be helpful, I really shouldâve just went with my gut instinct and listen to the reviews. Iâm going to put the brands I have so others can determine if there items would be taken or not. Sharagano dress original price is ($109) never worn Jolie&joy shirt retail price ($18) never worn Cato sports wear set (21.99) never worn New York company, almost famous No boundaries, H&M,true rock, SHEIN,Guess, vanilla store, Lilly white ,art2class, DZARM, fire and rain, Fashion nova, and it took me 10 minutes to go though the brands, look up the retail price and and write...
