If someone had told me my taste buds would experience euphoria at a humble corner store, I'd have laughed in their face. But here I am, a changed person, ready to spread the gospel of the divine gyro I discovered.
Picture this: a nondescript corner store, nestled between a laundromat and a place that sells mysterious electronic gadgets. You walk in expecting the usual chips and soda, but lo and behold, there's a sign proclaiming "Best Gyro in Town." Intrigued, and a bit skeptical, I decided to take the plunge.
The gyro was handed to me like a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's factory. The pita was soft yet firm, cradling a treasure trove of perfectly seasoned meat, fresh veggies, and a sauce so good it must be made by angels. Each bite transported me to a Mediterranean paradise, despite the honking horns and city grime just outside the door.
Not only was the gyro amazing, but the store also had an eclectic charm. Where else can you buy a lottery ticket, an oddly specific brand of pickles, and a culinary masterpiece all in one stop? The staff were friendly, though I suspect they know the secret they've been hiding in that kitchen.
In conclusion, if you're ever wandering the streets and stumble upon this corner store, do yourself a favor and get the gyro. Your taste buds will thank you, and you might just find yourself coming back for more—and maybe even...
Read moreAt first glance this looks like a convenience store, but the quality of the food immediately lets you know it is far more. I came in at 2am on a Wednesday night and there were no customers around, but the food that was served to me was of exceptional quality and freshness. The two hardworking individuals running the store were friendly and attentive. I learned that the original owner, Mitchell, sold the store many years ago now, but everything has been done to preserve the legacy and standards put in place long before. The cheesesteak was packed with juicy, perfectly cooked steak, balanced by a perfect ratio of fried onions, mushrooms and just the right amount of mayo and seasoning. The Italian cold cut was also layered full with a perfect balance of meats, cheese and vegetables. It tasted incredible. The rolls used for the subs are very fresh and high quality bread texture, unlike a lot of hoagie shops. The chicken tender basket was also levels above what you would get elsewhere. The chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection, while the fries were perfect texture, with some skin still on them, and not greasy at all. All in all, bravo! There is a very high level attention to the preparation of all orders and the quality of the food. The man who was making the food is a real chef, not just a cook (and to be open so late every day, that is...
Read moreI stumbled upon Mitchell's Market via an Ocean City foodies page. I'm always on the hunt for a great cheesesteak so after several recommendations, decided to give it a try. When I order a sub, I like it a certain way. Whole sub, provolone and American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mushrooms. Fried onions on the side, extra mayo on the side. It's complicated but it's how I like it. After the girl patiently took and called back my order, I waited a bit. Maybe 10 minutes later, they called my number. I took the sub to the inlet and parked myself on a bench outside of Thrashers. It was my own little adventure, and wow, how good it was. This was one of the best cheesesteak subs I've ever had. Prepared perfectly. Great meat. Nice ratio of cheese/meat/toppings. Nice soft, fresh roll (although I do prefer a toasted roll, but this was still great). And the order was 100% accurate, and it was hot, which is also important to me. The sub was so good that I knew I had to go back and let them know. So after eating this amazing cheesesteak sub, I drove back to Mitchell's Market and let them know how much I appreciated it. They were very friendly and appreciative of my feedback. Can't...
