Had a terrible experience with the host at this place. The most inexperience, untrained, and nonplussed host ever witnessed.
To make a long story short I happen to show up the same time Princes Prima Donna showed up. Apparently some friend of the manager and/or owner of the place; unsure.
There was already a line at the entrance, and this young female showed up very pushy. Literally pushed into the people in front of us. Seeing this I told them "The line starts here". She started back at me with the most entitled discount Paris Hilton look I've ever seen. Her along with her crew of two or three other females.
Very pushy, but I moved close behind, the people in front of me so they couldn't cut in line and told her "After me, you come first".
The host (with all those nice tattoos all over her arms) asked discount Paris if she has a table (as in a reservation). Discount Paris answered "no". And then said something like "Come on! Does Shannon (I think the name) know?". As in "Don't you know who I am??"
And let them cut in front of us. Now this in itself wouldn't bother me. I've seen plenty of entitled (and/or the delusional for that matter) and mostly ignore them. But what irked me was this host and how she failed to handle the situation.
The first thing a person comes in contact is with the host. And this one had no clue, and seemed not to care at all. No understanding of etiquette et al. Made me feel like garbage really.
At this point I should have just left, but my family did want to try this place. So I let her give us a table. But discussed, I needed to speak to the manager about the whole affair.
The manager was really a piece of work too. He did apologize at least, but seemed to care even less than the host. Take it or leave it. I got up with my family and left..
Mind you this is my first ever negative review here on Google, and go out of my way not to be a jerk to people. And I'm the least entitled person.
P.S. I hope discount Paris chokes on it, whom ever she was..
Edit: Reply to the owners response. Instead of owning it though, taking any responsibility, you decide to make it a personal attack on me, the reviewer. At least you went and talked to your people. Trying to push back my pointing out of the entitlement back on me, if anything there is some expectation of at least some professionalism and etiquette.
And now you're flat out lying. It wasn't a two people discount Paris Hilton party, it was at least four. Again as I stated clearly and factually in my review, this person came up right in front of the line and expected some kind of VIP treatment. I'm sure you know very well who the person is. Be it a spoiled daughter, granddaughter, niece, etc., someone you know; someone that knows you.
Again to reiterate, I was just put-off with how your host was totally nonplussed, didn't know what to do, shrug, said nothing. She could be Mother Teresa reincarnated and combined Medal of Honor recipient, but this is her job, this is the point of my review. It's called feedback. What these reviews are for. For you to take responsibility and fix the situation (train your hosts, put your discount Paris Hilton in check, etc.) or not, and caveat emptor for potential customers.
I'm sure when people read this, they will get what I said, and I'm still saying. So be it, glad I ended up not spending...
Read moreSo I was going to give a 3 after the incident that happened, but after Shannon the supposed owner and manager made rude comment to me; I have to give it one star. I'm a single mom and my child and I were seated quickly at 6:34. We waited 15 minutes before a server came. He took our order for drinks and food which was 1/2 dozen crabs, calamari, and two soft drinks.
We had waited about 25-30 minutes for food to come and being that it was already about 7:20 we were eating quickly. When my child informed me they needed to use the bathroom, I had let our waiter know we would be right back. We were gone all of 4 minutes in the tiniest bathroom ever with no soap to wash your hands nor a working dryer to dry them.
As we walked back our table was cleared. Still 3/4 full soft drinks, the 3 crabs and 1/2 basket of calamari.
When I finally found our waiter it was already 7:35 and seriously was so annoyed at the fact that our food was gone and drinks, I just wanted to leave.
I would of been fine if 40% of the tab was taken off since I had informed them that I was in a hotel room with no table. How am I suppose to eat crabs in a hotel room? Seriously??? Who wants crabs in their bed?
Anyways the waiter was nice and stated he didn't really know what to do but to redo the whole order (excluding the $3 soft drink....) and I asked if we could speak to a manager then.
Here she comes with her nasty attitude smacking her lips. I stated that I had informed our waiter that we would be back and our table was cleaned. I was staying in a hotel with only bed and that we actually needed to get going so I didn't have time to eat the crabs there. Nothing but the rudest tone of "Your crabs will be out in 30s. You have time to eat them."
I'm sorry but you do not talk to a customer like that. She saw I had a small child with me and it was not 30s when the crabs came out it was another 15 minutes which if our table had not been cleared we would of been finished eating.
I honestly was half tempted to just walk out without paying anything since my food was removed before the bill even came. Even the women at the table across from mine became irritated at this whole thing. It took everything I had to bit my tongue there because other people were eating with their children. I will never return here again though. And if she talked to me in that demeaning tone, i feel sorry for the staff...
Read moreI went with a large group and sat at the bar. Some of us were just drinking, but many were getting food. I was just drinking, but I checked out what people got and tried a bit from others' plates.
The goods: the beer prices and the location. At the time, they had $1.50 Natty Bo's, Natty Bo pitchers for around $9. Stuff like Coors and Yuengling was just a bit more, like $2.50 or so. The location is also great. The Ocean City boardwalk is a fun place to spend some time, and they have several outdoor tables as well as an inside area.
As for some of the bad: I didn't love the service. They were competent and usually somewhat courteous, but some of what they did rubbed me the wrong way. For example, the waitress/bartender asked if we wanted separate checks and we said sure, which prompted her to ask "you guys aren't going to be big pains in the ass, are you?" She also joked around by questioning a patron when he asked for a water to go along with his beer. You should not have to feel uncomfortable or wrong for ordering a water, so I didn't like it, even if she was just joking.
More on the bad: some of the food was just flat out bad. The french fries were abysmal. They looked exactly like a very low quality french fry from a bag in the frozen food isle, and they were clearly 100% unseasoned. They were about as bad as fries can get. Some other foods were also questionable, like some pretty gross looking buffalo wings. Some of the food was a bit better: the crab dip with pretzel bites was good, shrimp and crab was fine, etc.
Fine for a quick cheap drink and maybe an appetizer on the side, but stick to a place that does some better food in...
