Terrible is the one word that can be said sum up our visit to The Dough Roller. To begin, we were seated rather quickly despite our party of 10. However the floor throughout the restaurant was covered in trash and under the table in which we were being seated was particularly trash covered. We asked for the area under the table to be cleaned up and so it was but the waiter immediately seemed to be agitated with us for asking that the floor be swept up. We were never given menus so my wife had to grab menus from that wait staff station near our table so we could begin to figure out what to order. The waiter soon returned to take our drink order which was botched up fairly bad, with some of us not even receiving drinks at all! But that issue was fixed when the waiter returned to take our food order. At this point we realized we had made a poor decision when we decided to eat lunch at The Dough Roller. It was obvious that the staff was less then enthusiastic about their career in food service. So when the food was brought to the table one of our party, who had ordered a small pizza was left to wait a little while longer for his food. That little while stretched longer and longer. The waiter was questioned not once...not twice... but three times about the pizza for the last person waiting on their order still hadn't received his pizza and yet everyone else had finished their meals!. Each time we were lied to. We were told pizza takes longer to make then the other items served. We were told the dough was being made fresh. Finally, after the third time we got up and asked someone else and we were told to "Shut up and mind our vacation" by a gentleman making pizza behind the counter. At this point the waiter had called some of our party ignorant. Perhaps that was from the man behind the counter telling us to shut up.so there was a bit of a scene being made because who says that? Seriously, That was such an unexpected response. The waiter, for his part did try to make amends but it was beyond that point. He admitted that the ticket was never printed to the kitchen and therefore the pizza was never ordered. So based on this experience I can say with 100% certainty that we will never choose to eat at The Dough Rollers ever again. And neither can I recommend to eat at The Dough Roller, especially when there are many other places we have eaten in Ocean City that have treated us better, hire nicer people and care more about the cleanliness of...
Read moreAbout 6pm, after a lovely day at the beach on 7/23/2023, a teenager in our family wanted to eat at Dough Roller, 3rd and Boardwalk, Ocean City, MD. We walked as a family about 2 miles along the boardwalk to get there. Upon arriving, I advised a female hostess 7 persons were in our party, one of which was a young child. We were seated in a partitioned area with 6 chairs separated from a second table by the partition. A chair was added at the end of the table at which we were being seated in a narrow isle across from a party in a booth. There were ample tables and chairs that could have better accommodated our party and the establishment was not even half full with customers. Given the cramped seating while attempting to sit at the table and the stature in size of persons in our party (over 6 feet tall and 250 - 300lbs), a member of our party went to ask our hostess if we could sit at both tables separated only by the wooden partition between us. The other table was empty. We were informed it would be okay. After I went to the restroom to wash my hands, I returned to be informed that a woman with another employee had both rudely demanded to know why we could not just sit at the one table. Given the tone of the demand, my family was shocked. I walked over to a male employee observing what was taking place and asked to speak to a manager. He asked me to wait for a minute and summoned a woman who was taking an order from the people at the booth across from us. After several minutes of writing down their order, the gentleman summoned her over to me at which point he left our presence. Upon explaining the situation, she merely looked at me without comment. At this point, my family members in dismay decided they no longer wished to dine there. Seated customers were onlookers to what was taking place. My family and I gathered our belongings and departed. As we left I politely told the person who was said to be the manager that the rudeness and unprofessional customer service such as we had just encountered was "bad for business." Needless to say, Dough Roller at this location will never again earn...
Read moreMy family and I came in there last week and the complete front section of the restaurant was open we asked to be seated there they let us sit. Two minutes later they came back and told us that this section was closed and that they had a table for us in the back. So we got up went to the back without a problem because we figure the section was close. We got our table it was dirty there was stuff all over the floor we had to ask for it to be cleaned. So halfway through our meal I get up to walk up to the front and I noticed that the section is filled with only white people. So I was immediately upset and confused I asked the hostess why she explained to us at the section was closed and not even five minutes later there was a group full of white people sitting in the section. She was stumbling over her words and said oh well the section was being cleaned. Now we sat down that section was clean it was the cleanest part of the actual restaurant. I said the table that we sat at we had to wait for it to be cleaned and I don’t appreciate me walking up five minutes later and you had to sit in the back because you’re black. They cannot explain the situation we asked for a manager he said and I don’t think that was her intention. I said will be we are in asking you to think we’re asking you to solve a problem because your hostess sat us in the back because we were black and tried to make it seem like the table was bigger for our party but yet she didn’t want to sitting in the front section because we were black. We will never eat there! We had a very large party at least 12 of us and we spent a good amount of money in there nothing was done nothing everything was disregard it....
