I’ve been a member of this crunch since 2018. I am also a former employee (personal trainer) of this gym. I have always spoken very highly of this place because of the “homey” atmosphere for all sorts of people. Advanced or not I always loved this gym. However, it has had its ups and downs. It’s been through the hands of many owners, general managers, managers, PTMS and personal trainers. There has been moments of serious hope and faith in this gym over the last few years. But since June of this year, I will not step foot back into this gym. Whenever I quit working here they tried to ban me indefinitely.. for what? After arguing with them that no where in the paperwork did it say if I were to resign that this would happen so I was granted the ability to still workout here. In May i had to step away for a medical emergency and let the new GM Anthony know. Which he told me he would pause/freeze my account. (I should have known better since I never signed anything). When returning back to the gym a month later I was notified I could not attend the gym as a guest and that my account was past due over $150. My account was never paused/frozen. Anthony stated that he never said he would freeze my account, which isn’t true because my girlfriend was standing right beside me when he said it. He said the best thing for me to due was to get my Dr. notes and whatever other documentation and send it over to him. So I did that, and never got a response.. so I’m assuming my account is continuing to rack up despite being in a medical facility the entire time this has been happening. So as far as this issue goes I’m leaving it at that. Crunch and it’s management team has decided to block me on all social media which I find extremely childish as I’ve never done anything wrong to anyone there. They have also since decided to block my girlfriend and remove her from following them. Which is even more mind boggling. This place as the BEST it ever was in the year of 2024… it’s really disappointing to see this place go to crap all over again after seeing it improve for once. Mike Stevens was the best thing to ever happen to this gym. They decided to move him to a new location they plan to open. Which I’m super stoked for him. But disappointed for crunch in Oceanside. The best way to can break down this gym is that they use it as a training ground for employees, build them up, and then move them on. Anyways, this place left a really sour taste in my mouth. I highly doubt I’ll ever step back into this gym and I’ll never again recommend anyone to this gym. My girlfriend has since cancelled her membership. So this closes my chapter on...
Read more7/2025 I'm just editing my preview review from last year to mention that the front desk team and the trainers keeps making a huge difference in our daily work out experiences. Salah is always paying attention to little details he can do to enhance your work-outs and lift your energy from the moment you enter the gym. Paul (trainer) is always willing to give you really helpful advice whether you're training with him which I highly recommend, or not. Kevin keeps the good spirits as always. The gym facility needs to be updated, and I totally second the person describing cleaningless of locker rooms. Toilet has been leaking since October last year, and it still does. So as much as you can have your staff cleaning throughout the day (and I've seen them several times including the manager), upper management does need to fix it so the whole area can be kept cleaned. As for the team, and Salah specifically, Thank you! Your daily good energy doesn't go unnoticed.
Great gym. All of the front desk people, especially the guy that is going under training (I believe his name is Kevin), and the one relocating to Denver have great energy and were very helpful and not pushy at all which made my wife and I feel very comfortable to join the gym in the first place. The gym itself could definitely be updated and improved overall, but the staff (front desk and personal trainers) makes up for it. Within the past six months I have been experiencing intense carpal tunnel pain due to an injury while snowboarding a few years ago, I had seen different chiropractors/mobility specialist and nothing was making it go away. When you join the gym they offer a free assessment appointment with a personal trainer to go over your training goals. They told me Alexis specializes in mobility exercises so I scheduled mine with her. She listened carefully to my goals and needs, and then along with some other exercises she taught me four new muscle isolation exercises which eliminated 95% of the pain in just ONE day. The value and the impact that she can add to your daily workouts and your overall results is impressive and highly appreciated. I am very grateful I've joined this...
Read moreI had an unfortunate incident at Crunch on Saturday, September 27th at around 6 PM.
Crunch Fitness can no longer be trusted as far as safety and security are concerned.
The front desk at Crunch was unattended for over 90 minutes late Saturday afternoon because an employee decided to get a full workout, but on paid time.
It's a concern because anyone off the street could trespass and commit theft, especially in an area that is already crime-ridden with transients and drug use.
A more serious concern are that computer screens at the front desk were left open where member accounts and financial information could be breached.
I took photos to make a point and was confronted by a staff employee who came from the weight machine area and was wearing a headband. He confronted me and asked why I took photos. I told him that it's because he was not doing his job at the front desk and I was going to send the photos to the manager.
The employee's attitude was disrespectful and he told me it was none of my business because nobody else was complaining. It doesn't justify the fact that he left the area unsecured.
As a member it is my business when financial information for members could be breached because Crunch staff are entitled to leave the desk unattended to get their workout.
Crunch Fitness has shown its true colors and proven itself to be completely unethical, without a doubt. Crunch staff feel entitled to not do their jobs, they don't care at all about the members, they don't care about security to prevent trespassing or data breaches.
The ethics of Crunch Fitness should be a concern for...
