The Comics Stronghold — Local services in Oceanside

My favorite comic shop for a lot of different reasons. The main one is the owners that work there everyday from open to close. I've never been there once where someone that wasn't part of their family was working. Nicest people that you could ever meet and you can tell they truly care about their customers and their business. One time I was looking to complete a run of X-Men number one. It's the one where there are 4 different covers that when you line them up create a single image of the X-Men and Magneto. I needed the Magneto cover to complete the run. A week before going into the stronghold I was at the Ninja expo in Carlsbad and ran into a vendor that quoted me a price for the issue that I thought was too high. He also made me feel like we were in the middle of a negotiation which is cool . It's business and I get it. When I went into the Stronghold I found the issue I was looking for but it was bundled with the other 3 covers that I already had. Not only did the owner break up the set so I could buy the cover I was looking for but he took the time to Google a fair price for it. Fantastic little comic shop. Mostly new or in-print comics. All the extras like Pokémon, Funko, some D&D stuff, etc. Limited older comic inventory depending probably on what customers sell them, but still a respectable amount. I bought all their Conan, lol. Best thing about the shop is that it is very clean, brightly lit, organized, and accessible (wheelchair accessible/not crowded). The owner’s father was working when we visited. VERY friendly and helpful. No pressure to buy anything. Helped us find everything we were looking for. Gave us some free kid comics to keep a toddler entertained during our visit. There’s nothing better than a local comic shop, they get to know you, make suggestions and look out for the books you buy. My first interactions with the guys at Comic Stronghold was a late night message to them looking for a book and some variant titles. These guys got back to me quickly, pulled the books and even offered to let me come grab them on a day they were closed. I really appreciate that level of service.
