Newly renovated, Beautiful store, produce up front. Excellent products run around 39% less than Walmart or Sam's if you use their store brands. Many products come from Germany or distributed thru Batavia IL in the States & have no preservative chemicals in them, no dyes, or additives. They have many European items in food & housegoods, & products like fresh items are usually both excellent in taste, fresh & are appealingly packaged. There are 8 workers max in each store so there will be occasional lines. Bags run between 7 cents & $1.25 for the insulated ones. You bag your own groceries, they provide a nice height shelf just past checkout for you to figure bags & you can bring bags to use, just let them know you are bringing them in. Almost all prices are right, I still suggest checking before you leave the store. The bathrooms are kept clean. You DO pay a quarter to take a cart, but its just as easy to get your quarter back when you return the cart to the area & reverse the simple process or trade a quarter with an incoming person in the parking lot. Fun place, the Choceur chocolates are made with whole milk & NO pgpr or oils replacing milk; like Myars & Hershey are using. Full cocoa powder & chocolate makes a huge difference in taste & for the chocolate bar sizes, their price is HALF what the plastic, tasteless American products run you. Particularly like Choceur coffee chocolate, Edwin Mosur milk chocolates & toffee or cream filled bars & truffles. They also have a kitkat type cookie. Cheeses, hot dogs & fresh/dry stores- red pickled cabbage with apples & a selection of meats, many the Kirkland* brand which is a cover for many...
Read moreI like this store and shop there often, but generally for packaged products. I would love to be able to buy more of my organic produce from there, because they do have great prices. But the employees bruise and damage the produce so badly that it is often virtually destroyed. The employees seem intent on getting the product out as quickly as possible and literally THROW the produce on the shelf as if they are handling rocks. I spoke out one day when a woman was throwing bunches of bananas on top of the pile, asking her to please handle the produce with more care, because she was ruining it. She just shrugged her shoulders and continued tossing them, almost as if she enjoyed the chaos that she was creating, or at the very least, she certainly didn't care. I have watched them throw heavy bags of apples the same way, sometimes even tossing them on top of bananas or avocados that bruise easily. If you pick up a back of citrus, there is usually at least one or two smashed, moldy fruits in it, contaminating the rest. The initial cost savings of the produce are eliminated when you factor in the amount of spoiled product that you end up needing to discard. But the produce issues are truly the only problem I have with this store. I have had good experience in purchasing their salad mixes that are kept in the cooler in plastic containers that keep them protected; they are fresh and the price is great. It is also a great place to buy dairy products, frozen goods, paper products and bread; they carry some organic items at reasonable prices. So I highly recommend them for...
Read moreMs. Vega, the so-called "manager" of this location should be ashamed of herself and learn the basics of courtesy and customer service.
As an instacart shopper, I had trouble finding a handful of items on my list. In 2 instances she took half a second to point towards the general area of the store where I could find some items I needed. On the 3rd, she talked to me in a demeaning way about how it's my job to find them and that she wouldn't say where the rest of the items were, or if they were out of stock, something I cannot know unless I ask an employee. Out of a long list of items I had to shop for, I found most by myself as I should, but I had issues finding the rest by myself or know if they were out of stock or not. She thought it would be fitting to act and speak unprofessionally, and even more so after stating that she was the manager after I requested to speak to one. She added a very sarcastic "you're welcome" after I took note of her name on my phone. Mind you, I stayed courteous during all the interactions I had with her and all I did was ask for help.
Also, as a an employee, you shouldn't hold private conversations over the phone while at work under your face mask when customers are asking for help.
I am absolutely speechless about Ms. Vega's behavior, I shop at Aldi as well on my free time and this is not the way to speak to someone whether they're an instacart shopper or just a customer. I wasn't sure if I picked a fight with a random person on the street or if I was talking to an employee of a major retailer in...
