The Mob Shop — Local services in Ojai

Terrible customer service. My partner and I made a reservation to reserve an e bike. The e bike was very uncomfortable and could not be adjusted unless we returned to the shop. We did so and asked if they had another type of bike that we could rent because this one was uncomfortable. No accommodations were even attempted. They happily took our $100 after we only rented the bike for 30 minutes due to the poor quality of the bike. Not to mention that they would not rent us an extra helmet and also insulted our own e bike. Hard to say if we received poor treatment due to race or gender discrimination as a queer, POC couple as I see most of the positive reviews are from white men. We have emailed management and have yet to receive a refund or response.

Update: I received the attached email from the owner Tim after posting this review. While I appreciate the refund, as you can see from his tone, this shop is not interested in taking accountability for the poor customer service we received. I did call Tim and speak to him but again, zero...

My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with our experience at The Mob. We went looking to buy new road bikes, so we can be THAT cute cycling couple. We were thoroughly surprised with the help we received, and how comfortable we felt.

Tim really listened to our concerns and thoughts, and gave us individualized and very appropriate advise. We visited this shop three times before buying our bikes, and each time we had new questions. Even on our third visit the interaction was friendly and helpful!

The good marks don't stop with Tim, the whole crew is great. Keep in mind they are a busy LBS, and they do have many visitors coming to rent bikes, but the wait is not long... and they are very appreciative.

Don't waste your time like I did visiting the Mob Shop in Ojai. Even if you could ignore their unwarranted pretentiousness and incredibly misleading advice, their prices are too high. They are a useless embarrassment to the fine people of Ojai. And in case you are wondering if you can bring your bike there at least for a tune-up, nope, I am sorry...they suck at that too, I payed too much money for a full tune-up and they didn't do a thorough job at all (they ignored the worn out brakes). I suggest you take your bicycle for a tune-up at REI in Ventura, they offer better prices, faster service and without the attitude. In fact, they will tune your bike up while you wait.
