Writing this review on behalf of my mom & I's experience there at Mervats, only giving one star because the young ladies she has working there are very stylish and nice. Our initial experience at this store was very pleasant when my mom first bought her dress there for my wedding however at follow up appointments there was nothing but problems. Ended up having to take it somewhere else due to her shoddy alterations and spending even more money to fix it. She had ordered her dress too large, charged way more than initially quoted for the alterations, uneven hem and cap shoulder sleeves which made the symmetry of the bust look crooked but kept insisting it looked okay when it clearly didn't line up. She also offered to steam it which she never did either. I regret not taking pictures of it at the time but we were so upset and didn't think to at the moment. She kept trying to fix it on the spot which made us feel pressured and we weren't liking the results and felt like she wasn't listening to our concerns about it. She only then unhappily offered to fix it way too close to my wedding date which we did not feel comfortable with given how snippy & unprofessional she was being, huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes. She would constantly give us an attitude and then a second later try to yes you to death. My advice to all brides, MOBs, MOGs, etc out there who come here looking for a dress pay attention to how your dress is made and what kind of alterations you may need as well as getting your quote in writing before you purchase anything. She seems overworked which shows in her product.
Updated review after the owners bogus attempt to discredit our experience: if you think crying out of frustration after the way we were being treated and all the money that was spent on the awful alterations we wanted fixed that werenât done right âcausing a sceneâ then shame on you. I literally had not one other bad experience as a bride with any other vendor or store than this place which says a lot. My recommendation: go to...
Read moreMy daughter and I had a very bad experience at this store. Within a few minutes of entering the store, I saw a dress my daughter would like. I asked a young lady who works there if my daughter could try it on. She asked me about my budget. I said about $400, but mentioned that I could easily go over that if we found something really nice. The young lady then told me they wouldn't allow customers to try on items over their budget. I was totally taken aback by this. I was so shocked to hear that. I told her she shouldn't say that to a customer and wished them luck with their business. I grabbed my daughter and tried to leave the store. Without offering any apologies, the young lady continued to loudly and non-stop explain her stance, as if she was arguing back. An older lady then came out, also without apologizing for what had just happened, and asked me why I was shouting. Really? Who was shouting? She then asked if I had an appointment. I replied, do I need an appointment just to walk around and take a look? I was so shocked.
We went to several other stores and had no issues at all. They let us try on any dresses we liked and treated us very nicely. In the end, we bought a dress for over $600, plus an extra $100 for alterations. No wonder there are long lines at other stores, but almost no customers in this one. They need to learn how to be good salespeople if they're in this type of business. In your responses. You are lying about what was happened. Keep going with your mistakes by not showing any apologies to what was happened. If your store is appointment only, maybe you should put a big sign in front of your store so people who did not make appointments wonât bother to go in. Good luck to your business in this great...
Read moreThere were construction and alteration issues with my original wedding dress (note- original dress was not altered by Mervat). Two weeks before the wedding, after what was supposed to be the final fitting, we left the original alterations shop and drove straight to Castle Couture Off the Runway hoping to find an off the rack dress that required minimal adjustments.
I found a dress that day, and the store recommended I go to Mervatâs for alterations. I called her from the parking lot, and she said to come in right away.
The dress required hemming and strap adjustment. She also added a bustle for me. The total cost of the alterations was a 1/3 of what I paid for the failed alterations on the first dress - which was a relief. There were no rush fees, and they were kind enough to allow me to pay in full when I picked the dress up (alterations were cash only, I wasnât prepared with the cash deposit that day).
The dress was ready for pick up in one week. They showed my mom how to bustle the dress, allowed us to FaceTime my sister, and take as many pictures as we wanted - no rush.
Although the style of dress I ended up wearing was not what I envisioned for myself, I am so grateful I found a dress to wear on such short notice and that Mervat was able to perfect the fit for me. They were incredibly accommodating and empathetic. They did a great job on the alterations. Also, the bridal gowns, mother of the bride/groom dresses they carried were so beautiful. I would suggest adding them to your list of places to shop, in addition to...
