I was only ever referred to the NP Jessica, whom performed adequate work and ordered the necessary tests which I followed through with as recommended. I wasn't comfortable with the medication that she was prescribing me as I have had fatally unpleasant experiences with such medications in the past, which she ultimately understood. I returned a month or so later inquiring about the results for my EMG/NCS exams which I was billed a sum of money for at the time, therefore feeling entitled to my results at the very least. I was turned away, as I needed a doctor's visit in order to review the results, which is common practice as you don't want the patient to determine their own diagnosis as this leads to a rabbit hole of worry. Regardless, I was not going to be receiving care at the facility any longer, and was upset during that encounter but figured I would just go through the process of a formal records request and whatnot at a later date.
However a year later, I receive a collections letter in the mail for the amount of $50.00 for an appointment that I did not receive, and cancelled in the appropriate period of time. I had to go through weeks of unpleasant phone calls to collection agencies and the facility itself. Luckily I keep all my medical documents on file, which was finally enough proof for OEC to determine that I did not in fact go to the appointment. How they weren't able to determine that from the Chart Summaries, or lack thereof for their claim date, is of course beyond me. One can only assume that they have frequent turnaround in the billing department, or at the very least utilize an outdated and shoddy system. Now another 6 months after the last resolution, I have been sent another bill by OEC for the same non-existent appointment and will be spending more time on hold listening to whatever god awful music they're playing this time until I can explain what has already been said before.
I really wish the conclusion process was more clean, as I didn't have any qualms about the quality of care at the time. But there are severe logistical issues, which I can only blame the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a patient for 13 years. The first 11 years I used to rave about this place and recommend it. I go in for a checkup once a year every January. January of 2023 I had an appointment at 9:30 am. At 10:30 Iām still sitting there watching people who came in after me start to leave. I had to be at work so I got up and asked for a refund because you pay before you are seen. The receptionist says to me āyou havenāt been seen yet?ā She rushes to get the doctor and he begins speaking to me over the counter in front of all the workers and other patients. I told him we werenāt doing this in public because itās just not right. I only get seen because I need my meds refilled and blood work. Lo and behold without seeing the doctor the blood test gets skipped this year but he refills my meds! I was thinking this guy is nuts. That brings me to January 2024. I see a new doctor. She wants a 5 day EEG so of course my concern is will insurance cover this. Iām told I will need a one day EEG to be approved for the 5 day. Again I ask if insurance will cover this. I had to take time off from work and rearrange a schedule but the person making the appointments with me says she will call the insurance and make sure the tests are covered otherwise I canāt afford this. A week before the test I call to cancel because nobody let me know the status of the insurance. So today 3/7/2024 I get 3 calls from them. One saying you missed the one day so you canāt come to the five day. The second stating we are expecting you Monday morning. The third looking to reschedule. I finally called them and the lady who answers says let me get the manager. I just feel for Dr. Sadek because he has worked so hard and is a great Neurologist but these people working for him blowing off his patients. They are incompetent and playing around with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff of Orlando Epilepsy was incredibly friendly and helpful. I'm only 41, and having had a known seizure and potentially one other, I was very reluctant to even make this appointment. From booking my initial consultation with Leslie and Angelique, to meeting with Dr. Steve, who was quick, but also very courteous and frank while not underestimating my own knowledge of my experiences, to finally collaborating with Gina to book my follow-up appointments at the EMU, EEG, and blookwork, I felt that I've finally begun to receive the quality help and care that I've needed, but have been afraid to ask for in Lake County. I feel that I'm in good hands.
Also, I wanted to give Gina special praise. I recently lost my father, right after Christmas, and his birthday. In a particularly vulnerable moment, Gina kept her professional composure, multitasked what looked like a mountain of work, and consoled me in a way that I needed, but wasn't prepared to admit. Though her and I were complete strangers only moments before, I felt a kindness from her that very much put me at ease in what has been a difficult end to a somewhat turbulent year. I thanked her repeatedly. She made certain that I knew of and had access to all of my follow-up information and contact info. It was almost as if she wasn't going to let me leave until she was 100% positive I felt level-headed enough to do so. It was a kindness that I felt far-exceeded her job requirements, and demonstrated that she is a valuable, caring, and loyal member of her team. Truly a wonderful...
