A few days ago my water bottle opened up in my bag, which had my laptop in it. I brought it here within the first 24 hours of this happening is it caused some water damage. The lady that helped me said that this was an easy fix and that they are able to repair my screen. She told me it would take 2 to 3 days to fix as they are a little backed up right now. She told me they would call with any updates. She actually told me they would call me so many times that she hopes that I wouldnāt get annoyed with the amount of updates they were going to provide. She then told me my total and I asked if she wanted me to pay that now or later when I come and pick up my device. She insisted that I paid the full amount right away. I paid it, signed the receipt and never got my own copy.
I NEVER got a single phone call from them. On day three I called and asked for an update. A guy named Travis answered the phone and was completely rude to begin with. He asked me the basic information such as my name and the telephone number that the device is under. After I provided that information he told me that they ran a dye test and put my computer in a heat box to help draw out all of that water. I was very confused as I told him that the lady that I spoke with on the first day told me that they were able to repair my screen and it would be an easy fix. He then repeated the tests that they did. I then again repeated that I paid for a repair. He then told me that thatās not possible and that I am lying as they do not make people pay the full amount upfront. I told him again that I paid the full amount as I was asked to. Travis stated that the girl that helped me is new and didnāt know what she was talking about. He also commented that I spilled water on my laptop and should have known that there was a possibility of it not getting fixed. I then stated again that I was super confused on why I paid to get it repaired if thatās not what they did. He then stated that I have to be lying about everything that went down that first day and how he was going to check the cameras. (Which I hope he saw that I was fully telling the truth). He then asked āso are you going to pay $600 to repair the screen or come get itā. I told him I would be there some time today to come and pick it up.
After about 10 minutes, Travis called and said that the service they did cost around $59.99 and that I would be getting refunded the additional amount that I paid.
When I arrived, the guy that helped me seemed to be helpful, but unfortunately that took a turn. He gave me my laptop said that the water damage on the screen did go down. It indeed did go down. Said everything looked good and I was all set to go. After I got to my car, I noticed that a back screw was missing. I turned around and went back inside and stated that a screw was missing. (It had all the screws when I brought it in.) He told me that they couldnāt get a screw back in as there is corrosion. But just 2 minutes ago my laptop was fine (minus the water damage on the screen).
After further inspection of my laptop, I noticed that there are two dents on the back from what seems to be a tool they used to pry off the back. Cosmetically, my laptop was in decent condition with minimal scratches. This was my last straw.
Overall, I am extremely disappointed. I have many years of customer service experience and I was taught that it is your job to make sure people are happy and satisfied with the service they are getting. Unfortunately I have to give this place 1 star but if there was a chance for zero, they would be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I had inherited an HP laptop from my grandparents whose screen could induce an epileptic seizure once you logged in and so much as breathed on the trackpad, and I grew up with a MacBook and a self-built pc so I donāt really have a ton of experience with HP laptops and their problems. I figured I would bring it to uBreakiFix, since Iāve heard generally good reviews from my friends and have had bad experiences with other major repair shops, but I had never gone to uBreakiFix before. I thought I was going to have to pop in and drop it off, then wait a day or two for the diagnosis, then another week for the necessary parts or fixes to be implemented. I was essentially treating it like your local mechanical shop, which might have been the case for other major computer repair shops that I had gone to previously, but not here.
So I go in one night and I explain the problem to Gavin (I hope Iām spelling the name right) who greeted me at the front desk. He goes back to do some preliminary checks, and I thought that was it for me and the computer. 30 seconds later, he had already checked the screen for any cracks and ruled out physical damage for the time being, so he thought it was something software related. Sure enough, restarting the computer revealed a boatload worth of BIOS updates, which had somehow escaped me during my time cleaning the computer. We got to talking about how this couldāve happened, and he explained that the problems with the trackpad extended to more than just the screen. Turns out moving the trackpad during the restart process will pause any BIOS updates, even cancelling them altogether, so my computer was basically a year or so out of date, meaning the Windows operating system was basically speaking gibberish to the BIOS, and the BIOS was doing its best to try and interpret it, but the result was just a screen partying harder than a local dance club on a Friday night.
The computer works just fine now, but I didnāt leave before Gavin gave me some more information and tips in case the BIOS updates werenāt enough, including replacing the default HP graphic drivers with Intelās, since that was Gavinās solution to a similar problem that happened to him. The best part about the whole experience was that I didnāt have to pay for anything, which kinda made me feel bad since I couldnāt monetize my appreciation, but I figured I could put some heart and soul into the review instead. All in all, uBreakiFix is a great service with genuine people who clearly love the craft and who seemed to be willing to work on any problems you give them, so much as youāre happy at the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would give this store zero stars if I could. Iāll just stick to the facts.
-They replaced my iPhone 11 screen -I purchased the most expensive otter box case that they sell which they put onto my phone for me -immediately after leaving the store I noticed my front facing camera wasnāt functioning properly and it no longer recognized my face to unlock my phone so I removed the function -I called the store immediately and they said I have a 90 day warrenty -a couple weeks later I notice my phone is clicking and open the case to find that the screen is not attached to the phone -I called the strore to explain this and the guy on the phone was extremely rude, he ended up hanging up on me. -I return to the store and show the store employee and explain my issues -He takes my phone to the back and I hear him whispering to someone on the other side of the wall -The store associate returns and tells me the adhesive looked dirty (my phone case isnāt dust proof š) -The store associate told me heās never seen a screen separate from the bezel thatās still attached to the phone unless people have dropped it. (I bought the nicest case they sold, they put it on, and itās never been out of the case) -I asked him āare you telling me thereās NO WAY there could be a manufacturer defect?ā -Store associate told me that it only happens when someone drops there phone - no chance of a MANUFACTURER DEFECT! Comical. -Store associate told me they would not cover it under warranty or replace it because of the defect. -Store associate shows me a new screen and tells me they can install a new one for XXX Amount.
If youāre reading this you might want to look at other options for phone repair in the area unless you liked to be blamed for defective products, be treated rudely when you question them, hung up on, stand in the lobby in front of customers while they blame you and take zero liability for the parts they install or the work they complete. Itās too bad this franchise is run so poorly - it says a lot about management of this location.
UPDATE** Iām filing a complaint with their corporate office and they called the store and the store told them that my phone had WATER DAMAGE and thatās why the screen separated. LOL! Again if youāre reading this review - how many times has your phone screen separated from your phone due to moisture. Because in almost 15 years and dozens of phones this is a first for me! Store associate told the corporate escalation team they would replace the screen for $100 and wave the labor. $100 for another aftermarket defective screen š THIS...
