Potbelly — Restaurant in Oshkosh

Unique in many ways. Always had tasty food here. I don't think that's really in question. Every sub, menu option, side, cookie or whatever i have tried has always been really good. I think what throws people off here is the setup, menu, pricing. Its a bit of a learning curve.

As a society we get too accustomed to being catered to, everything made as easy and as simple as possible. So after a couple visits it felt easier and more comfortable knowing how to order, where to order, how things are laid out.

Customer service wise, never had a bad experience. Prices are mid range to high to some degree. But people need to compare to other places too. So if you think for example they charge a lot for their mac n cheese, remember places like Panera Bread who charge a lot for their mac. I prefer potbelly's mac n cheese.

Unfortunately I've learned over the years Oshkosh people, or maybe people in general have unrealistic expectations of businesses and restaurants. Sort of the entitlement chip on the shoulder. So from my visits and experiences at potbelly and keeping an open mind, taste/quality is excellent. Prices are good to a bit high on some items for what you get. customer service has been great.

If i could recommend improvements, maybe revisit the layout, watch customer behavior/interactions (mostly for new customers) and see how they react to the setup. Revisit menu to expand more options for options to add onto the subs.

Regardless, this is still in the top 3 places to get toasted subs in Oshkosh...

A co-worker & I ordered delivery at 11:54 am today (7/15/25), when the order arrived it was 12:49 pm, however the tickets on the food reflected a pick up time of 12:14 pm. When the food arrived, it was less than acceptable. The Prime Rib Sandwiches had a very small portion of chewy over cooked meat, no caramelized onions and mine was doused in the Garlic Aioli sauce. The Mac & Cheese I ordered was half full and the Loaded Baked Potato Soup she ordered was ice cold - not even room temperature. Lastly, the Cold Brew Shakes we received - mine was 1/2 full and hers was 3/4 of the way full. When my co-worker called and explained the situation she was "rushed" off the phone as if her experience didn't matter and was told the District Manager will contact her - but they didn’t even ask or confirm her contact information. The quality & quantity of the food we received definitely did not reflect what we paid. None of this is acceptable; not the food nor the lack of Customer Service. Extremely Disappointed. Consistently seeing moldy bread, meat tasted expired and staff asking if they should toss the meat and the manager saying no. Sandwichs are supposed to be hot but the meat is cold and cheese is hardly melted. Bathrooms always seem dirty, and tables seem to be dirty as well. Staff stands around on there phone while the service line they work on has food particles scattered all over. I dont see anyone washing hands before or after using gloves not to mention they use there phones and just put gloves on right after with out washing hands. The store manager seems to try to flirt with every women who comes through. Soda rack in cooler looks like it's never been cleaned and has what looks like mold on it. Under soda rack the floor is terrible, looks like old drinks and food particles. All in all your better off going to subway for a cleaner building, warmer food and safety from expired products and...
