This place is pretty cool. There are unfrozen meats and veggies. The meat looked fine to me; some of the veggies looked a little wilted to me, but I'm not an expert. Some of the frozen products looked to have some freezer burn / frost on them, but overall the store was clean! I did not feel unsafe buying items there. Products weren't super dusty or anything like that.
There is a whole back half of the store with rice cookers, kitchen supplies, and such that I didn't even go into. I was there for an hour, haha, and everything I got cost $60. So, in other words, prices are fair. The cashier was a nice younger Filipino lady and she made sure I got my discounts on the clearance items, which I appreciated. 👍 (There is a clearance section, yes, but some endcaps with discounted items are theoughout the store.)
Now, for all the exciting info:
Lots of products from all different parts of Asia. I think all the major Asian countries were pretty well-represented... There were more Korean products than I expected. Not many explicitly Chinese products, from what I remember. About all the Japanese products you would expect. Saw lots of Thai and Filipino products as well, especially with canned fruits.
There is a lot of space allotted the basics of meals: noodles of all types, seemingly every brand and form of seaweed and soy sauce imaginable, lots of canned items, lots of bases for soups and curries, large bags of rice, etc. There are also quite a few teas available.
The ramen section was the stuff dreams are made of. Tons of brands you can buy individually and try. Major brands are offered in boxes or bags of, I assume, 6-14 packages. There are also quite a few snacks and candies around, but as expected, most of them are going to be seafood-flavored. There is also an interesting section with bottled drinks I'd like to check out more; seemed to have a decent variety.
Will definitely go back. Interested to check out the back half of the store and re-buy the stuff I end up liking.
It is way bigger than you would expect from the outside.

Read moreI will not be going back here for my grocery shopping after today. I have never encounter any cashier that will go out of their way to argue and fight with a customer over 1 extra free plastic straw that come with a purchase of their instant coffee. I am a regular customer that shop here least once a week. I came in this evening got a bunch of other items and two pack of the ice coffee. I usually drink the coffee in my car on the way back, because the plastic straw is very flimsy, and always cracked. I decided to grab an extra straw just incase. When I get to the counter the asian female cashier was being rude and just toss the extra plastic straw out. When I asked her if I could get that straw she just toss out. She said "No" with an annoyed and irritated voice. The way she handle the situation was very unprofessional, it's not like i took all the pack of straws, there were plenty left at the counter. I dont think 1 extra free plastic straw is going to hurt anyone. I guess me coming every week for grocery shopping is not worth 1 free straw to...
Read moreHonestly, this is my FAVORITE market in the KC metro area. Between the excellent variety of product, the kitchen area, and the pre-made Korean food (gimbap and banchan!), it truly is the best.
When we go, we ALWAYS grab some pork belly for samgyeopsal (never disappointed. Thick cut or thin), we grab a roll or two of gimbap, and we always hit up the kitchen area. We've picked up our portable gas stove here (game changer), a BBQ grill top for it, countless Korean spoons (they're the best, I don't know what else to tell you). Eventually, I would like to grab some ttukbaegi, and one of the kimchi containers with the vacuum lids. They recently started carrying the pouch drinks you find in convenience stores in Korea (or maybe I recently noticed them!).
They've got a rewards program also, so make sure you get that started! I've been coming here for over a decade and just recently learned about it.
A must stop. Particularly if your kitchen needs some more gadgets, or if you're needing to stock up on Korean...
