Montgomery Gardens — Local services in Paducah

my Mother in Law gave me a $20 dollar gift card to this place and today after work I stopped in to see what they had because all of my 21 years of living i had never been in there. I looked around for a little while before stopping at this cute coffee cup that had a grey and white cat on it and I thought that would be the perfect little cup to buy because I just recently lost my grey maincoon, after I get done I go to the counter to purchase it with the giftcard just for the lady at the front desk to tell me that they no longer take “old gift cards” as of yesterday 07/30/25 and I was a little irritated and asked why, and her response pretty much consisted of “new owners don’t want to honor old owners gift cards” and then proceeded to be like “these signs have been posted up for a while” there was 2 signs where you check out on the counter. I had no idea since I had never been there before. Definitely could have gone another 21 years without going in there. Rude and totally unprofessional. I have to say this is one of my favorite places to go in Paducah. I have lived here for four years and when I found this place I found a gem. I only get to go about once a month or so but I make it count when I do go. I spend my time browsing all the amazing new things they have beautifully on display. And the owners are so very friendly and care so much about their store. It shows in their environment and interactions with customers. My number one item is my Tyler candles..they keep them stocked full and so many to pick from. Regarding houseplants only Their houseplants are slightly high in price but they do care for them alright. The plant sales have never included houseplants which is weird because at the end of the year they're all burnt or dying - but still expected to pay full price. They never really have anything rare but they do have a big selection if you catch their restock in time and they are priced really well, not really ever too expensive. Great place...
