My fiancé and I were in town and wanted to try something that we can’t get back home. Thus we gave this place a try today. Upon entering at approximately 12:30 the first thing that I noticed was the lack of diners despite being lunch time. At least this benefited us as we were sat immediately while many places in town have a wait these days.
I believed the lack of other guests would mean quick dining and on point service. I unfortunately was wrong in both of these assumptions. We started with a simple drink order and appetizer. The cups we received had massive film and marks on them looking either extremely used and/or dirty. We got our appetizer and to its credit the cheese dip was good for what it was which is the only reason I went with a two instead of a one.
After waiting for nearly 45 minutes we finally got our lunches. I went with fish tacos and rice and my fiancé got a burger. The tacos had a strange almost soapy taste to them and the tortillas were toasted. The fish to its credit was cooked and seasoned well but otherwise was not something I would get again. The rice had an overwhelming coconut taste and very little on the way of lime or cilantro taste which is what it was supposed to feature.
The burger advertised a pretzel bun which was not provided and came with fries that were a strange consistency and we were left wondering if it was an actual potato used for their creation. The burger according to my fiancé was ok at best.
The service exposed itself as lacking as we weren’t asked a single time while dining if the food was good until we were nearly done and even then it was just everything ok? Not wishing to wait another 45 minutes for food we chose to stop eating the food and pay our check. During which time no up sale was attempted for to go drinks, deserts, etc. Another strike against the poor service.
Side note: one of the employees had their son there running around pulling on their pant leg and yelling on and off while dining. Unprofessional and underwhelming as the whole experience was, we will unfortunately not dine here...
Read moreMy wife and I went here as a date night we have been here a few times and love the food every time. The only dissapointment we had at first was the fact they removed the "Bamboo sticks" as a menu item as it was our favorite appetizer (my wife is set on what she likes and doesn't enjoy trying new things like myself.*) However, on this one occasion she cracked and we ordered the "Wave" which is a very large chicken quesadilla, cheese, bacon (that we ordered without), tomatoes and green onions mad inside a spinach tortilla served with sour cream and and black bean salsa. Extremely delicious. My wife then ordered her favorite dish of "Calypso Coconut Chicken" and I tried the "Wicked Chicken & Waffles". I would give the chicken and waffles an 8 out of 10 I ordered mine spicy and was a little dissapointed that the lizard sauce I always get on the side was spicer than the chicken. This is not to say the chicken was not delicious just not as spicy as I was expected authentic jerk to be. The waffles were another slight miss to me. They were a little overly sweet for my like and the background note of vanilla that kept creeping through didn't work for me personally. The last minor complaint two small pieces of chicken to three decent sized waffles. I believe I personally would have liked to seen the ratio either swapped or two and two but as I said 8 out of 10 all three were minor complaints. Service was excellent! Kyle was an absolute JOY, attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Single handedly one of the best we've had here. Atmosphere, tropical, beach life vibes, but also LOUD the place is mostly wide open with not much to dampen noise and we were also seated next to a group of women on a "Girls night out" that made things at times uncomfortably loud for my wife (whom is deaf in one ear making it even more difficultfor her to hear) and I. Other than that was an excellent night.
Overall except for the minor complaints a solid 5 out of 5...
Read moreHad party of 17 and got there @ 5:40pm on Tuesday. About 5 tables open that could've seated us but found out over 1hour & 40 minutes of waiting....the young 'inexperienced' girls working the front were just a little too busy to accommodate us. There were 2 tables right in front of us that sat 8 each & 2 more next to them that sat 6.
The girls were so busy texting on their phones the WHOLE TIME we waited until TWO separate parties of 8 and 9 came in & THEY were seated right away. We asked for manager & were told he was too busy to talk to anyone. Three of us stood by the kitchen door & demanded he come out & after about 10-15 more minutes he came out & the best excuse he could give us was...."well ladies you just don't realize how busy we are in the back ".
If it had not been a surprise party for me I'm certain that EVERYONE would have left & not tolerated such inconsiderate behavior. Needless to say.....18 people from 17 families will NEVER SET FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN.
The manager never apologized or anything. Even other customers noticed & were mad as well. When they left they said they would never return also because they witnessed the cries behavior as well.
Bottom line.....NOT WORTH THE WAIT AND I CAN SAFELY SAY THAT THERE IS 17 SEPARATE FAMILIES THAT WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.
I WAS BEING NICE BY PUTTING 1STAR ON REVIEW. UNFORTUNATELY THERE WAS NOT A BIG FAT ZERO TO MARK.
When our party got there it was almost bare with people & the night progressed it was...
