My experience:
*November of 2020: met the owner Rachel, lovely person from whom I purchased a 14K/white-gold/24āā necklace for $2G (39.6g)ā I have barely taken it off since.
*December of 2023: after two āsalesā calls during the previous two holiday seasons; I returned w/two bracelets, and one pair of earrings for repair (Mom's - sentimental). But predominantly, to purchase a Xmas-gift for my mom. Purchased two bracelets, both were represented as 14K, but one turned out to be gold-plated.
*January of 2024: I stop by and provide two stones which I sourced for one of the bracelets; at which time we discussed, at length, how the earrings were to be fixed - again. I explained the jeweler which originally sold me the earrings attempted to fix them on three separate occasions by gluing the coral beads. Donny assured me that he would not be fixing them in the same fashion. He assured me that he would solder the end of the post holding the coral beads ā making it so that they could never fall off (beads fell off two weeks later ā he simply glued the coral beads back onto the post precisely in the manner he said HE WOULD NOT DO).
*(same visit) January of 2024: I also purchased a chain for $1G (14K yellow-gold). When I got home and really checked it out, I realized it weighed 10.6g, which is when I realized Donny-boy was quadrupling gold prices.
:::Yes, prices have changed since 2020, they have not quadrupled though:::
When I realized just how steeply he had priced my most recent purchase, I contacted him. I asked if I could bring that chain back and provide another chain of similar value. The idea being, to get a more substantial chain by using the value of the two chains, plus, paying the difference. I left it at that until he called to notify me that he had finished the repairs.
*March 9th, of 2024: In the beginning of March, the plumbing at my house failed, completely. Repairs took all of March (recently moved ā original plumbing from 1968 - so much fun!!). When Donny calls me in the beginning of March to tell me the repairs are done, I inform him of my situation ā unforeseen expenses of more than $20G. Still, I donāt ask for a refund for the chain he sold me for $1G. I simply offer a chain of similar proportions: 24āā/14K/9.2g (the chain he sold me was 10.6g @ $1K). . So, he shows me a lovely 30g chain; even w/the value of the two chains - he asks for $2,300 more. So, basically, he tried to charge $4,300 for a 14K chain which weighs 30g. . The only reason I was even in this situation was because I thought it would be tacky to ask for a refund on a luxury item, and despite my situation I still did not ask for one. . So, here I am in March, three months after dropping off the jewelry for repair; he charges me $319 for fixing one link, inserting two stones and gluing two coral beads. Of course, I do not know that he fixed the earrings w/glue - he had assured me he had NOT done that. . Anyway, that was March 9th (Saturday). I left the two chains in his possession; explaining that I need time to think and that I would return during the next week. They close on Sunday and his coworker told me he was not there that Monday when I called. So, first thing on Tuesday (12th) I tell Donny that it is simply not the right time and that I hope he understands due to my unforeseen plumbing emergency (I provided pictures). . So, the chain that was not his to begin with, which weighed as much as the chain he sold me for $1G - he ended up giving me $260 (by his estimation it should have been $253) - so, while he is counting the money he gives me $260 and says, "and there's an extra $10 because I feel bad about melting the chain.." ::LMAO:: Please understand, at this point I just wanted to break even and take, only, my chain back. But nope. . I'm doing this on Mother's Day, because while I did not have the fortune of seeing my mom wear her favorite pair of earrings on her day - I still believe Donny's mom has more class than his type of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor decades my family & my husbandās family have chosen MiRaās for all of our fine jewelery purchases & repairs. Engagement rings, wedding bands, diamond earrings, christmas gifts, watch repairs, custom creations - you name it they have it (or they can make it happen).
Donny recently (very patiently) helped me re-do my wedding set and create something special for my 10 year anniversary, that honored the original setting while adding some new touches. It was a design that only existed in my head, which made me nervous. With expertise, attention to detail, and craftsmanship, the set turned out better than I envisioned. I would only trust Donny for a project with this much sentimental value.
Our loyalty to MiRaās not only comes from the quality of work they do, but because of how they treat their customers...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't say enough positive things about my experience with Donny at Mira's. He was highly recommended to me by two different friends, but he far exceeded my expectations from the jump. In a city where customer service and promptness tend to fall by the wayside, I was impressed with Donny's prompt replies to my questions, his patience to work with me until I decided exactly what I wanted as well as his vast industry knowledge and experience. The end result was an engagement ring turned cocktail ring that perfectly suits me and who I am today. Thank you Donny! You've got a...
