Edit Response:
Since the owner made a few comments trying to undermine the points I made. I fully understand we had an outdoor reservation. My complaint is with not bringing us enough water. We had empty glasses for 30 minutes at a time. That’s unacceptable inside, outside, and on Mars. You did not tell us your normal menu was “closed”. You only told us the prefix would come out a little bit faster (see note 3). Had I known the baseline was 2 hours of course we all would have gotten it. The 2 members of our party who ordered from the prefixed menu recieved their food 15 minutes after everybody else. How does that make sense? We could not afford to wait any longer or else I would have asked for the dish to be corrected. This does upset me. The cake stayed in the box, and no one ate it. It was to have when we all went home together. We brought it to the table, since it would melt in the car. Don’t worry, it melted anyway, and no one had cake at all that day. In fact, I thought we probably just paid a “corking” type fee, but don’t know because we didn’t see the itemized receipt. Don’t imply we were brazenly eating outside food at your restaurant.
Original Review:
Horrible experience on Mother’s Day (5/14). Next time, please just say you can’t take a same day reservation, if you are that understaffed/busy.
Some Lowlights: Waited 45 min for our order to be taken. Waited 2 additional hours to get our food. Only refilled our water 4 times in 3+ hours (we were seated outside and with 80 year old grandparents. C’MON!) They brought an incorrect dish. When we pointed it out, there was a long awkward silence where they didn’t offer to take it back to the kitchen and we couldn’t afford to be there another hour so I just ate it. Cherry on top was that I thought it was disgusting. Rest of the party’s opinion on the food was “meh”. Underwhelming for the price point.
I wouldn’t have written a review, if it was just one or two things, since I know this is a family business. But this was a truly horrible experience for my family end to end. Please just be up front about your wait times/service capabilities to...
Read moreWe just left this restaurant after not having been here throughout the entire pandemic. We used to come here frequently. There was one other couple sitting inside and some guests outside. As soon as I sat down I mentioned to my husband that my bread plate was dirty. It took two more plates picked up from a nearby tables to get a clean one. The salt and pepper shakers on our table were crusty, the table had crumbs on it that we wiped off and the floor around us was not clean. We stayed anyway and had less than a mediocre meal. My French Chicken was in a lemon sauce that may have come from a jar, while the potatoes were dry and the broccoli was pretty cold. (probably from not microwaving it long enough straight from the freezer). This is the same dish I’ve always ordered. My husband had a sandwich with very little meat and sweet potato fries that were not 100% cooked. We went to pay our waiter and presented our Groupon. He immediately told us it couldn’t be redeemed because we didn’t order two dinners. The Groupon mentioned nothing about needing to order dinners. It only had a voucher value. The owner then came out stating we needed to have made reservations first to use the Groupon and we had to also let them know we had it. Besides being stunned, and seeing that they had an empty restaurant, we were seriously disappointed with the way this was handled. We used to come here frequently as mentioned, previously. The owner finally agreed to take the Groupon and warned us that next time if having a Groupon we need to follow the instructions. Honestly, we will not be back here. The quality of the food has decreased and after finally being ready to try to eat out in a safe setting, cleanliness is really important. This experience did not measure up to our...
Read moreIn July of 2012, I was knee deep in moving boxes, grubby, and STARVING. I told myself I would open just ONE more box, then I'd find myself a good, hot meal -- I didn't care what it cost! Luckily for me, what I happened upon was the delightful FRENCH BISTRO Miami, off of 136th and Dixie Highway, in The Falls. Dress is as casual or formal as you like, and the decor is that cozy French Provencal flair of yellow & blue & red tiny prints. It's a delicious, budget-friendly, cheerful place to go whether you're MOVING (heaven forbid!); celebrating a special friend's birthday; or just shopping at PetsMart, FiveBelow, Old Navy, or Marshall's. Even after 9+ years, the French Bistro is still one of my top three places in Miami to go for a terrific meal. Daniel is the jovial, mustached proprietor, and he runs a cordial, but tight ship: everything's immaculate and the wait staff is attentive and kind. Your meal starts with a basket of hot, authentic French bread and real butter; then a salad arrives with such a tasty dressing that the last time I was there I had to ask for a second one and I demolished that one, too -- in seconds. If they have the Lentil Soup or Lobster Bisque (weekends only) -- GET IT! --OUTSTANDING! Each entree fills the giant, oval plate: Breaded Sea Bass or Chicken Francaise are two favorites of mine, with your choice of two sides. Mondays they're closed, but Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are Early Bird dinners, and if you're seated by 6:30 p.m. you get their reduced price meal ($17.95) with lots of extras. They say it's easy to get a good meal once or twice, but to get a consistently fabulous meal every single time for a decade, now that's just GENIUS! THANK...
