Make sure that the store associates explain details when take your items from you: what to expect, how to be prepared. I came after gym and a guy who was helping me looked down on me and asked if I consigned with them before. When I said yes he said that my items will be sent to expert for evaluation and if I don’t like the price they set I can have my items back.
Previously, for my 2 bags I was paid right away on the spot. This time I realized it will take some time. I received an email titled “in the hands of our experts” saying that my items arrived and processing takes 2-3 weeks. So I waited when they process and “evaluate”. But no one is going to inform you about the price they decided on or that your items were already posted for sale without you even knowing the price. So when in less than 2 weeks I received an email “congratulations, your item sold” it was a total surprise for me.
So if they evaluate your items less that $99 your commission is only 20% and 80% is theirs. So they sold my new unworn shoes for $95 which makes my commission $19. Then they don’t ask you how do you want to withdraw your money, simply send you a check and withdraw another $12.5 for their service. So I received $6.50 for my new Casadei pumps.
I called to their store and they said they have nothing to do with it, that they simply accept and ship items and was suggested to reach out to the Real Real customer service. Customer service promises to escalate your request, and then you receive an email saying there is nothing they can do, it’s too late: your items are sold, this is the price and we can’t change it.
To estimate things and set right expectations from the very beginning go to their website and search for similar items — based on price you see there, you can see how much you can make based on their table. If it’s something less than $200 don’t...

I came to the Palo Alto store for my very first consignment appointment and left feeling dismissed and deeply skeptical of their process.
I arrived a few minutes late and was met by a young Asian woman at the front desk. She messaged someone (apparently their “expert”) via seemingly Slack to check if they’d still see me. The response came back was translated to basically “too late, no time”, and That was it. I was never told to wait, never given a chance to speak with anyone directly, and never offered an alternative, the entire conversation was super passive aggressive.
What felt especially off was how the front desk person then started pushing me to just leave my item with them, saying I’d “get results in a few days.” For a first-time consignor, this didn’t sit right—especially since she also mentioned that new consignments typically take about an hour to process due to setting up direct deposit and other steps. Yet my appointment was only scheduled for 30 minutes. That contradiction made the whole thing feel misleading and unprofessional.
It honestly felt like they just wanted to get the item in their hands, regardless of whether I was fully informed or comfortable. Based on other reviews I’ve now seen, I’m not the only one who left questioning whether I’d ever get a proper update or fair payout.
This location does not live up to the standards I expected, I honestly feel like that lady does not even care or love working there, won’t be...
