Zuma is a STUNNING restaurant. It’s clean, dimly lit, with a cool vibe. You can go for a nice dinner date or for drinks with friends to celebrate a birthday or really anything. The menu is Japanese and lovely. My mom and I only did a few appetizers as we had dinner plans with friends in a couple hours but I plan to go back for more.
We ordered the yellowtail sashimi, the prawn and black cod gyoza, the fried calamari, the semi fatty tuna nigiri, the sake marinated chicken wings and an absolutely beautiful dessert: the exotic chewan mushi. Plus a mojito because it’s the only alcoholic drink I actually enjoy!
The yellowtail sashimi was all for me as my mom doesn’t eat fish. It had a slight fishy taste which was shocking as the sauce and garlic - in my opinion- would’ve numbed that but it was still a nice combination of flavours. The prawn and black cod gyoza are normally something I don’t order but with the ponzu dipping sauce and perfect crisp cookery it was rather delightful! Also, rather impressed with how many we got. I was expecting three max and was happy to see they gave us a good portion. The fried calamari had the perfect amount of batter. So thin that it allowed for a slight crunch and wasn’t overly chewy! I do wish there was a dipping sauce but it was enjoyable to eat. Surprisingly light! The sake marinated chicken wings were for my mom - I had a bite but I’m not a chicken fan. They are my mom’s favourite though. I love the use of lime at this restaurant. Everything tastes so fresh! A small hint of lime really elevates a dish. The last two dishes were my favourites of my whole 3 nights of dining in Vegas. The semi fatty tuna nigiri was melt in your mouth goodness. I’m a nice daughter so I ordered the semi fat instead of fully fat. My mom doesn’t eat raw fish so since she was paying I went semi and I couldn’t stop giggling after my two bites! There’s something special about fatty tuna and next time I may just eat all tuna nigiri and the dessert. Simply perfection. We ordered this coconut, passion fruit, mango dessert and when it came out it was beautiful! The biscuit on the side is flakey and breaks apart easily. It was just… heavenly. I don’t know what else to say. I think my eye balls popped out of my head with that first bite. 12/10! I also had a mojito to drink which was quite a lot for me. I don’t drink so when I do I like a more… non alcoholic tasting drink haha. This drink was STRONG. I muddled the mint a lot and stirred down the ice so I was able to drink it but dang was it a lot at first sip! I am a bit of a weakling with drinking so honestly - do order it - I am sure you’d enjoy it!
Overall, a lovely experience. I will definitely be going back. My only complaint is for such a lovely restaurant there’s only one bathroom per gender and with sliding doors allowing barely any privacy. But that’s literally my only complaint and seeing how it’s Vegas and there’s bathrooms every 100 feet it’s not a deal breaker on anything. Check...
Read moreUpdated Review: My husband and I have been coming to Zuma since it opened, about 2 years ago. We come here for birthday, celebratory and business dinners, anywhere from 1 to 3 dinners per month. We usually order many items to share, as the portions are small, like tapas. The prices have have increased over the years, which is to be expected. What I didn't expect was the portion size, particularly the black cod, to decrease so much. At first I thought we were just getting unlucky pieces, but then during the last few dinners, several different people mentioned this. My husband said he usually orders the same items for his business dinners, but last time he had to order extra for the same group of people.
I came here with my in-laws for the first time this past Thursday, and I was just embarrassed. We weren't hungry, but I wanted them to try a few of the popular items. The black cod serving was so small! I wish I took a picture, but I think I was just in shock. It must also have been too salty for them because they wanted white rice. The seafood and vegetable tempura was good but also smaller than previously ordered. The dumplings and mushroom rice hot pot were okay. The skimping of the food is starting to give the restaurant a cheap feel. The sushi on the other hand was fantastic. The dynamite spider roll, toro and hamachi with fresh wasabi were perfect. The server was nice, although we felt like we were always looking for her. Other staff was around to accommodate us. I think we're starting to feel a little bit more disappointed every time we eat here.
11/13/2018 Previous review Zuma is my favorite restaurant at the Cosmo. I still prefer the old Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill, but I'm pretty happy with this establishment. My husband and I have been here many times for business and pleasure. Here's what we always order:
*gindara to ebi no gyoza (prawn and black cod dumplings) *age watarigani (fried softshell crab with wasabi mayonnaise) *skewers: buta - bara yuzu miso (kurobuta pork belly with yuzu mustard miso) *signature dishes: gin-dara no saikyo yaki (saikyo miso marinated black cod wrapped in hoba leaf) *tempura: yasai no moriawase (assorted vegetables) *robata beef: japanese grade a5 (wagyu beef (6 oz) with tahoon aioli and chili daikon ponzu fresh wasabi) *sashimi: uni - they usually have 2 kinds, o toro, chu toro and hamachi *maki rolls: watari gani (dynamite spider roll with soft-shell crab, chilli and wasabi tobiko sauce)
They also have some wonderful Japanese whiskey. As other reviewers have mentioned, I much prefer Zuma over Nobu at Caesars Palace, which is the most irritating place to...
Read moreDO NOT BOOK HERE, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED - UNPROFESSIONAL FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF!!!
If only I could give 0 star, this place does not warrant any star. I have been to many Zuma locations and I can honestly say Zuma - Las Vegas is so bad! The people that work here definitely don’t represent this brand at all. They need more training in customer service and failing that then replacing. The front of house staff are unprofessional and really rude. When you walk into this restaurant there is a really bad and unwelcoming atmosphere! We was surprised to be able to book a table on the same day (Sat 9th Sep at 7:30pm) and to be fair they had a lot of times available which is usually concerning as on a weekend they should be fully booked. My local Zuma in London this would not be possible as you need to book well in advance.
We arrived at 7:25pm and was told our table is getting prepared and told to wait aside. It would have been nice to be offered the bar to have a pre-dinner drink. It was now 7:40pm and I went to the front of house desk, spoke to a really obnoxious lady (blonde haired) and asked for an update on our table. Her relpy was “ you arrived at 7:20 you have only been waiting 7 minutes!”. Then she continued to tap away on her iPad. She couldn’t even get her times right and I couldn’t be bothered arguing with her and using up my energy! She definitely wasn’t fit for purpose and maybe pot washer would have been a better role for this horrible employee.
I didn’t appreciate being spoken to like that so we left and went somewhere else. The funny thing is 30 min after we left we got a text message from Zuma saying our table is almost ready. So had we stayed and waited our table would have been over 40 min late. How disgusting is that?! If it was the other way round and we was late for our table they would have given our table to someone else! The staff definitely need to see how London and Mykonos treat their dinners, there is no comparison! These locations would put Zuma - Las Vegas to shame! I would be mortified if my staff was running my business like this, thank god they don’t!
I wound not recommend this location. There are so many great restaurants in Las Vegas, so give Zuma - Las Vegas a big pass to avoid...
