Appalled at the integrity of the people working at this store.
I purchased a pair of Baleciaga sandals a few months back. When I took them home and tried them on again, I realized they were rubbing against my foot when I walked. So I repackaged them immediately and took them back for a return only a few days later.
I saw the same saleswoman who sold them to me. On the day of the purchase she was cheery, friendly and polite. I thought the return would be easy as she seemed like a nice person. As soon as I told her I wanted to return the sandals, it was like a switch went off and I was no one to her. She told me I couldn’t return the item because it had been “worn”. I told her it was not “worn”. I only tried them on. They were in absolutely perfect condition.
The department manager, Dakota, came over and inspected the sandals and then told me she could not accept the return. Not sure why she even inspected them because they were flawless yet she still said no. It was clearly within her ability to accept the return but she chose not to even though I was friendly and polite. She would not even issue store credit or offer anything else. Just a straight up No. She suggested I go spend my own money to have the sandals “modified” at a local shoe smith. For real?
I ended up initiating a charge back on my credit card. Nordstrom denied the charge back on the basis that I said the sandals were defective and since they were not defective they would not accept the return. That is a complete lie. They just made up a completely bogus reason to deny the return.
I attempted to contact the store manager Debbie to discuss this but she has not returned my calls.
On the day I purchased the sandals, my partner and I spent over $3000 on merchandise.
Reading some of the other posts here makes me realize that the management at this store is just so clearly greedy and lacking in integrity.
I will never return to this Nordstrom and if anyone out there reads this my advice to you is DO NOT buy designer items from here. Buy direct. If I had have bought those sandals from Balenciaga directly, I wouldn’t be dealing with this nonsense.
Edit: In response to Ny: I could understand if there was any single bit of damage to the sandals whatsoever. But they were unworn except being tried on. It makes me feel as if you think I’m some teenager that you think “rented” the sandals. I’m not. I’m an adult in my 30s and a physician in your community. Your staff was very rude, not apologetic, and your manager wouldn’t even speak to me despite me maintaining a polite and friendly attitude throughout. And you lied to my credit...
Read moreNordstrom used to have stellar service. The last time I was here, back in 2018. I had a sales lady help me right away when I was in the handbags. I didn’t need to seek anyone out. She came to me. She was kind and understanding. She doesn't work there anymore.
Now, flash forward, there's no one helping me. No one saying hello or offering me any service. I have to literally find a sales associate. No sales associate is even greeting me. I was arguing with the lady at customer service. Where she gaslit me. Nordstorm has changed their policy. They don't stand behind the quality of their products. I kept having to argue with the lady at the customer service desk about the fact that Nordstrom has changed their policy. She said they did not when they clearly have. I understand that times have changed, but there are tactful ways of saying that. Not making me feel awful about myself. Now, there's a time limit and you need to have the tags on your items, irregardless of the quality of the item. She claimed it's just normal wear and tear and that all products go through wear and tear.
I spent fifteen minutes being gaslit the whole time. I was told that Nordstrom has not changed their return policy, when they clearly have. The only way to have any service is if I can connect to a manager, but they couldn't even reach a manager.
This is the last time I'll ever be shopping at this location. Since when has Nordstrom been known for belligerent service? Nordstrom has gone downhill. In service and in their policy. If you need to make a return? Needs to be within a certain time frame. If the product isn't high quality? Good luck. Nordstrom doesn't stand behind their products at all. It's all gone downhill. I understand if the policy has changed and it’s a case by case but why make your customer feel terrible about themselves? Does customer service get a kick out of making you feel terrible? I get if a return can’t be done because it’s outside of the time frame but the service I received is night and day compared to how it was back in 2018. In 2018, Nordstrom stood behind all their products. But not anymore.
Gone is the amicable service. Gone are the sales associates who even welcome you as soon as you walk into their departments. There are so many stores one can go to. I’ll be taking my business to Neiman Marcus thank...
Read moreMy wife was attempting to purchase a Tory Burch handbag. But the saleswoman assisting her was so condescending, impatient and arrogant that we just left abruptly. I didn’t get her name, but this happened at around 3:30 today, 5/11, in the handbag department near the East Entrance. The saleswoman was African American, short, 60-ish, medium build. She left such a bad taste in our mouths that I felt the need to report this to someone at Nordstrom, whether action is taken or not (which I did).
This started with my wife indicating she saw a color she liked on the Tory Burch site. The saleswoman immediately got nasty and condescending and shot back that “This is Nordstrom, not Tory Burch, we don’t have all the colors that they have. Do you understand?” My wife then asked her if she could look up the product number on the Nordstrom site, to see what colors there were. My wife pulled it up on her phone but the saleswoman refused to look at the phone and told my wife to “Find it and give it to me when you find it,” again, dripping with annoyance and impatience.
At this point my wife had enough, said “Thank you” and walked away. As we were leaving, another saleswoman, white/hispanic, late 50s-ish, blonde, around 5’6” or 5’7”, thinnish, made a snarky comment like, “Good leave,” or something along those lines, laced with sarcasm/condescension.
What is going on with Nordstrom? This store has worse customer service BY FAR than the Macy’s at the same mall. While I’m at it, you also have a miserable salesman in the men’s shoe department, 60-ish, either Arabic or Indian. Guaranteed to give a dirty look whenever I’m there.
But I digress. Please, at the least, have someone speak to this woman. She should not be dealing with customers.
PS: Wife bought the bag directly from Tory Burch, sans saleswoman aggravation, and IN THE COLOR SHE WANTED. She loves the bag. Since there are numerous bad reviews concerning the handbag department and this store overall and nothing has changed and all Nordstrom provides are empty excuses and platitudes, I will never again shop at...
