On July 15, 2020, my mom was in this hospital for her 2nd hip replacement surgery performed by Dr. Mark Cutright. She was scheduled for this surgery after meeting with the docter July. 10. So pretty quick. The first surgery was 3 years ago and all went well and she stayed for 5 days. The hospital staff was really nice on the day of surgery. The next day she was released home (24 hours) and she never walked the day of discharge only from bed to door day of surgery. Did I mention she is 82 yrs old. She lives by herself and minimal help from neighbors to aid with recovery. The evening of discharge she was experiencing some pain and docter said normal and take pain meds. That night she fell on her way to bathroom and was not found until next morning extremely weak and disoriented. Ambulance was called and she was taken back to hospital. Also I did not mention that while she was in the day of surgery, her clothes were lost by staff and she was sent home in gowns tied together with no walker..... Once she returned back to hospital they now want to send her to a rehab. This day was Thursday and then they did not do covid testing until Saturday knowing there was a wait on results before rehab would take her. Thus she did not go to rehab until a week later. While in the hospital awaiting rehab she should have been walked each day and was not...very disappointed in the staff for dropping the ball on this aspect and so many other issues. Last week when we went back to docter to get stitches removed...I asked what the protocol for hip surgery was as far as being sent home...and was told 24 hours. That may work in a perfect world but in her world she is 82 and lives alone and her mind is not the best...so maybe protocol should not be followed unless the docter is certain that she can go home without falling, etc.... On her return to hospital after fall and awaiting rehab...the staff was not as nice as day of surgery. Very distant and only seem to come when absolutely a must....so many times during my visits....they were constantly pulling their face mask down to talk to me or each other....it is sad that this negligence exists because this is the only hospital in this area....so for some the low level or care and concern is not an option but a must. So heads up for anyone entering this facility for a hip replacement...........you will be going home immediately and hope...
Read moreWas admitted after 2 days of agonizing pain after being sent home by Camden hospital..it took a while once we arrived. I'm sure running all the test, waiting for results...then eventually talking to urology. The super kind NP came in to tell me I was going to be admitted and have emergency surgery the following morning/afternoon. Even though I was in the worst pain of my life... miserable...and SO UNCOMFORTABLE, the doctor... and the nurse made sure I was good to go. I WILL SAY.... I had a handful of nurses, names and all, I could list but won't, that are not worth a single penny to have there. One left my IV with antibiotics going, the machine started beeping, she cracked the door told me to silence the machine, only to find out at shift change and hour later that the medicine hadn't been going in as it should have and the polite amazing nurse that replaced the other fixed it and got my meds flowing. The same terrible nurse wouldn't even check my strainer to see if id passed my kidney stones, she looks at me and says " well what did you want me to look at? Oh this? Are you kidding me? That's obviously not a stone. I have alot of other important things to do...." and she stormed I out... I was super embarrassed.... The kitchen staff...... AMAZING, POLITE, ALWAYS TALKED TO ME, BROUGHT MY EXTRAS WITH NO COMPLAINTS!!!!! The cleaning staff, amazing!!!! So incredibly nice! Over all aside from the few bad apple nurses I had, the hospitality, DR. MOBLEY ⥠OF COURSE for literally saving my life so I could come back home to my boys, and Pharmacist for watching my blood culture, the lovely humans taking breakfast/lunch/supper orders and bringing it to me with a smile, for it to be such a terrible, out of the blue, horrific, painful, traumatizing event. Majority of the staff at Henry County Medical Center made me feel like my care was tip...
Read moreThis hospital was decent 20+ years ago. It progressively gets worse. The ER doctors are mostly a nightmare, a couple are good. Most aren't. They've misdiagnosed me and my children so many times it's pathetic. The ER is very messy and not clean. The doctor's don't generally care about the patients, I know you're tired and sick of dealing with people but that's your job! You took an oath. If you don't have a high standard for patient care, then do NOT be in the medical field. We know you're tired and fed up with people coming in just for pills but it's your job regardless of the situation. Not everyone is a pill addict. Treat people like you would want someone to treat your mother, not like they mean nothing and you don't care. Misdiagnosing people can have severe consequences, even cause death. Runs the tests, do whatever you have to get an accurate diagnosis. I brought my daughter in 5 years ago, told you her appendix is bad I just know it, the doctor said I doubt it. I insisted he do a CT scan, he agreed. Within an hour she was rushed to surgery, the doctor said you were right. A year later, my older daughter, same exact situation, insisted on CT scan, rushed to surgery for an appendectomy. My son sits in your ER now, was there last night. You diagnosed him with inflamed bowel without proper testing. He's back again tonight because you didn't bother to do a CT to back up your diagnosis, he could have a bad appendix, gallbladder or even and ulcer but you didn't care last night. Your standard of care is horrible. If I were dying, I'd rather die then have to return to this kind of care. Take me to Jackson, Murray or...
