Iâd like to begin this review by saying, Iâve been a member with La Fitness since 2019 and I previously worked for La Fitness from 2020-2022. I actually worked at this same location and Iâm devastated by the way I was treated. This morning at around seven am, I had just entered the gym and had checked in. While checking in, I had asked the older front desk employee if he was able to check in my guest as they were coming in right after me. This apparently turned into a problem as this employee began raising his voice at me after he tried to explain why my guest couldnât be checked in unless they were walking in with me and leaving with me. This situation began Id like to say a week ago, I believed that we had come to a compromise as I would check in my mother (the guest) and so would my friend who is an employee with la fitness from what I was told. That way they would leave together. Obviously there was a misunderstanding but yelling at a customer is extremely unprofessional. As a woman in her early twenties, the gym is intimidating enough but having a grown man (employee) yell at you also, makes it more intimidating to come back. Not only that but now, I will be canceling my membership in the next upcoming weeks. I was planning on keeping my membership with La fitness (I wouldâve put it on freeze) when the competing gym opens across the street, regardless to also having a membership with them. After this interaction with the front desk staff, Iâm completely uncomfortable coming in to the gym alone. For reference, the employee works the opening shift, Monday through Wednesday. I didnât even want to ask for his name after this interaction for this review as I was very uncomfortable after he raised his voice at me (Update, i found out his name is Bret). After he raised his voice at me, another member heard me speaking to my mother about the situation and explained that he did the same to his guest who had a free week pass. If youâre looking to come into La fitness and be greeted by great employees, Iâd come in later after nine am, after this gentleman has clocked out.
Every other employee from the sales staff (Dujaun and the others) to the personal training staff and the operation manager and the other front desk staff, are all amazing people. This one employee has also been making small comments ever since I came back to this location, whether it be to me or my friends. Since 2019, Iâve also been referring all my friends or anyone who asks me for a great commercial gym to la fitness, now I will be referring them to EOS...
Read moreI went in to cancel my membership. I stood at the front desk for about 2-3 minutes. There was an irritated looking girl with long fake lashes sitting behind the desk but she payed me no mind so I moved closer to left end of the desk so she would notice me. She turned and looked and just nodded her head at me and raised her eyebrows but said nothing so I said Iâm here to see Angelica and she said OK but she was irritated when she said it, little did I know she was Angelica, I guess she expected me to know that. Her response to everything I said was one of irritation. Maybe she was just having a bad day, who knows, but def not a nice experience. Also, I signed up January 23rd, paid first, last, and like two weeks later I paid my annual fee. A week after that I started trying to cancel because come to find out I had no multi club access or guest privileges, which I could swear at signup I was told I did and right across the street at EoS I got unlimited everything for almost half the price. Anyhow Angelica was supposed to be there till 6 but on 3 different occasions I called between 4:30-5 to confirm she would be there and she was already gone for the day so I wasnât able to cancel before they attempted to withdraw my next monthly payment. When she canceled me she lmk I owed and I told her I wasnât paying it because I had already paid $300 in fees for less than a month of having a membership and I was unable to cancel on time. Her response was thatâs fine you donât have to pay but you can except to keep getting harassed by phone calls until that payment is made. After I left the location I called corporate, they canceled my membership effective immediately and wiped out the pending charge. Terrible customer service. Glad I switched...
Read moreI'm not the type of person to write reviews. I've only written two before, and they were both positive.
I got a membership to this LA Fitness location after moving to the area. After going three times, I decided I was done.
I have two complaints, and they're both significant in scope and magnitude.
First, the place is dirty and disorganized. Second, the equipment blows.
There is no one wiping off equipment or benches after use, because there are rarely paper towels stocked. If anyone is cleaning the floors, I've yet to see them. Given the stagnant odor of the place, I wouldn't bet that it's commonplace.
The dumbbell rack is so disordered, it can take up to 3 minutes to locate a dumbbell size, because they're never where they're supposed to be. Notwithstanding, sometimes you find one of them, then you have to go on a search for the second dumbbell of the same size.
There are two rope attachments for the pulley stations. Two in the entire gym. And one of them looks like it was copped from a 1990s east African pirate ship.
There are no deadlift pads. There is one full rack, but there are no bumper plates - in the entire gym. Rather, there are about 3-4 smith machines.
Beyond that, it's a sea of machines. And you can't tell what the machine is until you walk up to it. Because let's be honest, all of the machines are a configuration of grey metal bars with a couple grips and black pads arranged in such a way as to differentiate the machine from being a chest press vs a row and an ab vs lower back machine. So, you spend a lot of time walking around squinting.
My guess is that the operations manager is a teenager, and the executive in charge of purchasing equipment doesn't lift.
This place needs...
