Sumo Japanese Restaurant - The Confluence of Immaculacy and Culinary Mastery in Boca Raton
Nestled in the heart of Boca Raton, Sumo Japanese Restaurant is a culinary treasure that seamlessly combines a dedicated focus on cleanliness with an extraordinary dining experience. During my recent visit to this charming eatery, I was not only impressed by the pristine environment but also by the delectable quality of their teriyaki dishes.
From the moment I stepped foot into Sumo Japanese Restaurant, their unwavering commitment to maintaining an immaculate setting was abundantly clear. The tables were meticulously arranged, the floors gleamed with cleanliness, and the overall interior exuded an atmosphere of tidiness and order, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic dining atmosphere.
Now, let's explore the teriyaki. Sumo's teriyaki dishes are nothing short of exceptional. I had the privilege of relishing their "Chicken Teriyaki," and it was a flavor-packed masterpiece. The chicken, tenderly grilled and adorned with their delightful teriyaki sauce, was a harmonious fusion of tastes that danced on my taste buds. The dish was meticulously presented, underscoring Sumo's commitment to quality and authenticity in their culinary offerings.
While their menu boasts a wide array of Japanese delights, from sushi to tempura, the teriyaki dishes at Sumo undoubtedly shine as an outstanding choice that would entice me to return.
Sumo Japanese Restaurant's ambiance strikes a perfect balance between being welcoming and sophisticated, with tasteful decor that complements the overall dining experience. It provides an ideal setting for a romantic evening, a gathering with friends, or a special celebration.

Read moreOn 2/25/22, at approximately 1:43pm, we had lunch at Sumo Sushi. Our order was pretty straight forward; (2) Sushi & Salad Lunch ($27.98). The sushi and sashimi were excellent; nice and fresh. However, Erica, the server's demeanor was impersonal, abrupt, and she never inquired if we needed anything, until AFTER we finished eating!!! We expect the food as well as the service to be good. That wasn't the case. We would definitely recommend the quality sushi/sashimi. However, if you're looking for service, go somewhere else. My advice to the manager, Vero M., is, train your staff... you were sitting a few feet away from our table with Erica and you never said a word. Teach your staff to be courteous and attentive!!!
UPDATE: Since our first visit on 2/25/2022, we returned twice (the most recent visit was on Aug 4, 2022), and we were pleasantly surprised. Erica the server recognized us and apologized for our previous experience. She explained that on that day in February, this family-owned restaurant was suffering the tragic death of a close family member, and though they tried their best, they couldn't hide their deep sadness. On our subsequent visits Erica and Vero have treated us like family; they have welcomed us and provided OUTSTANDING, ATTENTIVE SERVICE. We have enjoyed FRESH, DELICIOUS Sushi (We love the Sushi/Sashimi Platter for 2; OUTSTANDING VARIETY!!). IF YOU WANT EXCELLENT, FRESH SUSHI along with CARING WELCOMING SERVICE, THEN YOU MUST TRY SUMO JAPANESE RESTAURANT... You...
Read moreThree stars is probably generous. We ordered a veggie roll that was cut into 10 pieces. Every piece fell apart when picking it up with chopsticks. Yakisoba that wasn’t yakisoba, it was o oked vermicelli in a tasteless sauce. There was no yakisoba flavor to it. The veggies were huge, not bite sized. Two people asked us, “Is everything good?” I said, “it’s ok,” to which there was no response. She just turned and walked away, not sure who she was, the hostess? It was obvious I was unpleased. Then the waitress came by and asked the same question and I said it wasn’t good, that it tasted nothing like yakisoba. She told me it was yakisoba. I told her it didn’t taste like yakisoba, I lived in Japan and ate plenty of yakisoba and it does not taste anything like yakisoba. She also walked away. It was hot when it was delivered to the table and the vegetables were cooked just right, but it was a hot flavorless mess. Neither the hostess nor the waitress offered to fix my meal by offering something else from the menu. I would not recommend this place, especially if you have had authentic Japanese food, whether it be in Japan or Timbuktu, you’ll be sorely...
