my review goes back MANY YEARS..to when I was a student at Fuller Seminary, which is almost right next door to the court. I was working part-time as a substitute teacher for the LAUSD to help pay the bills . One day, after teaching I went to a class. After the 1st late-afternoon class I drove up Lake intending to go to McDonalds before my next evening class. At the intersection of Lake & Villa a lady ran a red light as I was going thru the green light. I hit the brakes and skid & our bumpers touched. There was a police car nearby and they came to see what happened. The next thing I knew I was being blamed for the accident. I objected. And the next thing I knew I was being hit by one of the cops with his club, then they pushed me down to the ground , bent my arm up way too high and knees on back (probably the cause of my chronic pain to this day, 18 years later). They took me to the police station, and took my dog who was with me in my car to the humane society. They seemed to realize their mistake right away. Not sure why their 1st impression was that I was a "bad guy". They released me without apology. I filed a civil suit against them...and it's too long to recite here..but it was ME versus PASADENA PD in this courthouse, .. and it led to other unbelievable things . My eyes were OPENED to the dishonest shenanigans of various lawyers, cops & police dept employees, Pasadena City attorneys office, even perhaps some of the judges, et al In essence, I would call it a "KANGAROO COURT" in my case. "Shame on you" is too polite . May God judge you according to the way...
Read moreJust wanted to point out one of the various reasons why I rated this place 1 star. And it's not because of animosity I have because of a ticket or a court date. For a city that you know beyond a reasonable doubt, has plenty of moolah to pretty much do whatever it wants to, as far as city spending Budget, maintenance, etc., Should have a clean, organized, up to the NEW standards, municipal facility. Who cares HOW old the building is. The restrooms, disgusting! Still using paper towels??!! Yassss.. that is not only bad for the environment, but also bad for cleanliness. Paper everywhere. Smells, I don't have a adjective to get my point across! Parking?? If you're going to have people who are attending court, paying for a ticket, or whatever else that may take some time or be a in & out job, atleast provide free parking, that's close to where you have to be. Nine times out of ten, if you are here, you're probably paying for something or you are gonna have to eventually pay something. Pasadena, step up your game and stop acting like a baller, and start being one. For such a Rich and affluent area, you're sure one cheap ol' man. It ain't 1818...
Read moreThis court is plagued by corrupt judges. From traffic to civil courts (small claim). There have numerous complaints from litigants that judges, especially in small claim courts, are so bias against consumers while passing judgement almost always in favor of corrupt businesses. The trick the judges (like Judge Annabella Cortez) use is they do not provide their judgement in court but only by mail. And that would come weeks after the hearing. When you receive the judgement in the mail, there's absolutely no explanation for the judgement but only a short decision. There's no transcripts, no records. And they do not even consider any evidence seriously. They would just glance at the whatever you give them and pass their judgement (by mail). So it looks like the judge made up her mind before entering the court room. It'd be a waste of time to trust or believe in a justice system that's reflected by this so-called superior court house! If you're a consumer or a driver, don't bother wasting your time at this corrupt kangaroo court! They just want your money and it has nothing to do...
