So, I've been thinking about whether to leave this review or not because in a way this could be seen as a personal mistake or at least partially my fault. But hear me out:
I wanted to purchase a p365 chambered in 380... WITHOUT the safety option, and that was made clear at the hunting counter. I had my LTC and even then, with no line, the entire process took an extremely long time. Then, when which ever manager came to check the serial number, as they do, they did it without me handling the pistol. To be honest, they sold me the pistol without me ever handling it, making it seem that I was getting the intended pistol. I guess they used this tactic to make me wait so long that I would be in a rush and never checked what I was buying until I had paid for it and arrived at my apartment. All this considering their famous no return policy.
Academy, please don't sell your trash pistols when it's clear that the buyer didn't want that version of the pistol. This is the second time this has happened to me. I tried to purchase a p365 in 9mm with iron sights and the employee sold me the SAS version during a very similar experience and tactic used by the employees at that Academy. AGAIN, Academy, use this as a learning experience and don't allow your patrons to waste hundreds of their hard earned dollars on trash versions of the items that they didn't want. Thank you.
03-18-2025 - Update: from 1 to 4 stars I’ve had some stellar interactions with this Academy location regarding firearm purchases recently. For example, checking the serial number while you hold the item is and always should be key protocol, something that didn’t happen in my previous examples above. Anyhow, I’m always open to editing my reviews if improvement, or lack there of, is shown. Trey and Tim were on top of their game today at the counter. Thank you both...
Read moreLet me start by saying I thought that this was going to be a quick, fast and easy type of shopping since I knew what I wanted but that was not the case.
I entered the store at around 5:30pm. Was greeted at the door and I went about my business. I was in the fitness department for about 10 mins waiting for help but saw no one. I then walked over to the gentleman who greeted me earlier and asked him can he call someone over to help me. He said sure. I waited maybe another 15 mins and decided to go back to the gentleman to see if he had called for anyone. He said he did but no one responded and that they was stretched thin today. I walked my way back into the fitness area and waited another 15 mins and again, decided to go back to the gentleman. I said I been waiting close to 20 to 30 mins now and can I please get some help. He said he'll try to get someone over and apologized. Someone finally came to help me at 6:11pm. I asked the associate can he grab me a weight set and he said he’ll be back. Well it is now 6:25pm and he is still not in sight. I then actually see the associate who was helping me put merchandise back on the selfs so I approached him and asked him did he get my weight set? He tells me "oh, I left it at the front". Welllll okay then? So he just assumed that I knew where he put it? I literally was waiting for nothing when he had it up at the registers. For something that could of taken 10mins max, had me waiting close to an hour now. Management needs to schedule accordingly. The whole time I was there all I kept hearing over the intercoms "manager, please come to customer service for customer assistance" or "team sports associate please answer your calls on line 2". Meaning everyone else wasn't getting...
Read moreI can't believe what just happened to me. *While shopping in Academy (TOWN CENTER - PEARLAND location) this PM (1/18/2016) I was approached by the store security at approximately 4pm. He appeared angry (almost hostile) and was very threatening. He told me that he was "watching me" and that he was "all over me". I asked him what did he mean? He said that he knew that I was in the store with another person and that we were working together. I told him that I was shopping alone and definitely plannned on paying for everything in my cart. He became very loud and disrespectful and repeated that he was watching me close bc my shopping cart was full. I asked him to show me this person that I was supposed to be "working" with. He then walked away. Of course, I went to a store manager, who took the same arrogant attitude and stance as the store security person. He told me that during this season a lot goes on in the store and he didn't owe me any additional explanation for what happened to me. He was so disrespectful and had no regard for what had just happened to me. So I asked for another manager. I remained calm and explained what happened to me to the second manager (who apologized) and gave me the name of the security person and of the first manager. ...I definitely will be following up. But for now, I'm still in shock. 1/21/2016 - As a follow up, ...I can't get an answer when I call the corporate phone number, so I'm going to the media. MY VOICE WILL BE HEARD!!! I'm...
