I came in here for kataifi to make my own homemade Dubai Chocolate. I was actually headed to the Post Office when I passed this Middle Eastern store and decided to go find the special ingredient that makes the viral Dubai Chocolate everyone and their mother has been talking about all year!
The staff helped me find what I needed. They had the dry kataifi, roasted kataifi and frozen kataifi. I told them I wanted it for the Dubai Chocolate and said I could use any of them but the roasted kataifi was probably best option to keep it simple. It cost $8.49.
The market itself reminds me of small Asian markets. I was in a hurry but I want to come back and really look around. They also sell pistachio spread here too but I already bought that so didn't need it.
After I paid and, on my way out, I immediately noticed the viral Propitious Ice Cream in the refrigerated section. OH. EM. GEEEEEEE!!! Been looking for this everywhere. They had so many different flavors options including mango, peach, refreshing lemon, summer lemon and the blue one is a milk flavored ice cream filled with yellow peach jam. I was so excited to find this close by but also couldn't buy any since I was running around. I will be back for these!!!
"Propitious Ice Cream, also known as "the viral ice cream", is a Chinese frozen dessert that comes in fruit-shaped popsicles of mango, peach, and lemon. The popsicles have become a social media sensation, with TikTok users documenting their months-long searches for the product. The ice cream's rarity and premium price, ranging from $7-$11.99 per popsicle, contribute to...
Read moreMy wife and I happened to drive by Medina earlier in the day and told ourselves we have to come back in the evening for dinner. The market has tables outside if you want to eat on the spot (which we did). Upon entering, the chef gave a sample of grape leaves to both of us and then took our order. My wife ordered the chicken tawook platter and I ordered the beef shawarma platter. We were able to browse the market while we waited for our meals to be freshly cooked and prepared. The food was superb, aromatic, and absolutely mouth-watering - especially the rice! We both finished our entire meals and the portions were more than we expected! A definite value for your dollar. For dessert, we tried some chocolate rolled in nougat and another item which I can best describe as tasting like a mix of chocolate cake and chocolate mousse. Delicious! All in all, a great low-key dinner date spot where you can eat your fill for around $40 (including the purchase of beverages and dessert). I highly recommend Medina Market if you enjoy Lebanese / Middle Eastern cuisine. Even if you’ve never had this type of food before, I promise you’ll walk away from the experience with a happy belly and wanting more...
Read moreA wonderful bakery and grocery with fresh, frozen, and packaged foods of many varieties. By the way, inside the east door and across from the checkout counter is a "self serve" cabinet which I did not notice when I first visited. Each day, "while they last," that cabinet is full of freshly baked goods including spinach pies, cheese pies, and meat pies which are exceptional in quality and price. Although Medina Middle Eastern Market (aka Medina Pines) is a 9-mile drive from my Hollywood abode of the last few months, IT IS WELL WORTH THE DRIVE. I will miss these folks when the time comes for me to leave south...
