I was actually told to go here by a few people and I'm always skeptical when it comes to comic books because with comics it is hard to say what a value is on them without a grade and what not. Well I went to a comic shop in Bridgeville Pa I won't name the name and I bought a Plastic Man #1 from the 60s and I paid $60 for this beat up torn and taped comic. I thought I got an average deal paid top retail but okay with my purchase. When driving back to work (probably shouldn't be comic book shopping while on work time but oh well) I saw Pittsburgh comics in McMurry and thought why not. Walked in greeted with hellos and nothing overwhelming but a few people who know what they are talking about when it comes to comics and I saw it. The same comic I just purchased except in almost perfect condition I mean the color was incredible and no rips or TAPE! And I saw the price and asked if that was a mistake and he said absolutely not....$20.....$20??....$20?!!!!!!! at that point I knew these guys for one had amazing prices in comics that are not near top retail by any means and I found a new place I feel comfortable enough to buy comics without looking on my iPhone to see if I am...
Read moreI love this comic book shop! Colin, the owner, is extremely courteous and is a great help to the customers (especially the new ones). I just started collecting comics and am so swept away by the great service of this place that I got on the computer to write about it. It is a very well kept together store that holds a wide variety of comics and memorabilia. At first, I thought his organization was standard for a comic book store but I should have known better. When I started looking around at different comic book shops, non seemed to rival Pittsburgh Comics. MY favorite part about the store is definitely Colin's inclusion of the little guys. When I say little guys, I mean the store sells kid friendly comics and memorabilia and he has space on the shelves for local up and coming comic scribes. I'm very impressed that this one man (with a little help from his friends) is able to keep his store in such...
Read moreGreat store. Colin is very friendly and able to make a recommendation or tell you a little bit about almost any book. They run more frequent back issue sales then any other shop in the area. Be sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram if you want to know about all the special sales they run (about one per week, sometimes more.)
They record a podcast and cable access/YouTube show which are pretty good.
They're the only shop in the area that has a monthly book club that meets the last Friday of every month to discuss a trade paperback. Colin offers the current book club book at 25%.
With all this stuff it's easily my favorite shop in the area which is why I drive an extra 20 to 30 minutes to get there from the...
