STELLAR! Please open back up on Tuesdays!! * As a Petersburg native, I’m surprised I’d never seen or tried this place- and I pass it everyday going home. It was amazing. Just a classic home cooked meal that warms the soul up. I just know it was made with love. So simple yet so delicious. Great seasoning on the potatoes/home fries. Rosemary was a nice touch. (Slice of ham was too salty though.) Bacon was great. Sunny side up eggs delicious and fresh. Country white toast was soooo good- how? Had the hint of butter in there nice and crisp mm mm. Original pancakes were great. Wish they had a decaf coffee option though!!* The slice of orange was a nice touch for aesthetics and fresh taste to top the meal off. Omelette was spinach and sausage and was delicious. Leaves you full and happy. Great service we came and were the only ones there so there wasn’t much of a wait. But for the food I’d be willing to wait on the quality so as long as I have the time. Love the fresh flowers on the table and historical figures artwork around. Being located in the historical district means a lot to me that they kept the theme and charm of it. Great service with a smile from my man didn’t catch his name. I’ll definitely be back. Was about $52 with tip for 2 people with what we got the “Big Breakfast,” “Sausage and Cheese Omelette,” and Coffee. I’d say worth it for the quality taste and service. Some other options seem a little high but if they taste anything like what we got I understand! I really like the binder menus as well with MLK Jr quoted. Prices keep it from being a regular stop bc still high for the average person. But it’s quality and I would rather them keep their current prices than sacrifice on the quality. I got the extra large biscuit my second time back, and it was absolutely beautiful and appearance, and most importantly taste. They make it from scratch you have to wait extra 25 minutes or so for that worth...

I don’t even know where to start, so we will start at the beginning.

It was the day after Christmas and we were looking for somewhere to grab a bite before dropping family at the airport. We had driven by HiStory countless times and never realized it was there, but reviews made us want to try it. Walking up, I was a bit hesitant. The facade leaves something to be desired, and honestly, I would have walked away if I knew there were other options.. but boy am I glad I didn’t.

Walking in, we were greeted by a friendly face, who I assume is the owner. He got us seated, along with the family who walked in behind us. It was a one-man-show, aside from the two folks in the kitchen. The service was fast and friendly.

Here is the really good part: the food. The food came out hot and quickly. I got the breakfast sandwich with turkey bacon and homefries. My wife got the two egg breakfast with a biscuit, sister-in-law the two egg breakfast with sausage and white bread, and my brother-in-law got the smoked salmon bagel with grits. Everything was INCREDIBLE. I think I could eat my weight in their biscuits: buttery, flaky, soft… absolute perfection.

What really stuck out to me, though, was the incredible hospitality of the owner. A family with a young child came in and the kiddo seemed to be upset about something. Without hesitating, the owner immediately changed the TV from the news to a cartoon for her. As someone who has worked in hospitality for years, and my wife who has a PhD in hospitality, we were blown away.

We cannot wait to be back and I can’t wait to bring my family when they visit from Texas. HiStory is, by far, the BEST restaurant breakfast I...

This place is fabulous! We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in. Google Maps and Waze took us right to the building but it took us a second to notice the sign for History Breakfast and Brunch. We were the only people there for dine in when we arrived, there was one person for To Go. The menu is in a binder at the table (2 on table), they had a can drink for me when I asked for Coke or Pepsi but the menu doesn't offer soda. I did not know that at first. We ordered once we were done going over the entire menu and waited maybe 15 mins for our food. It came out HOT and exactly as we ordered.

The food is AMAZING! The portion size was more than I was expecting so I was unable to eat everything but it was delicious. I got the Basic Breakfast which has 2 large eggs my choice of 2 slices of bacon, home fries, and toast. I also got grits since all the reviews raved about the home fries and grits. Hands down BEST breakfast I have had from a restaurant in a LONG time. The bread is from the bakery down the street so it is fresh and so good!!

We loved how peaceful it was inside even though there was traffic going the entire time right outside. We arrived before 9am and the place was getting packed by the time we left and much louder since a bigger group of people came in. There was 4 tables seated by then. There is not a lot of tables and space but that makes it so much better!!I HIGHLY recommend you give them a try! They deserve the locals showing them love and support.

If you are just driving through and looking for a great home cooked style breakfast or brunch, stop and give them some love.

10 out of 10 all the way around!

We will be...

We arrived shortly after they opened this morning, so the server allowed us to choose our seat. The place was a little too warm for my husband, likely because the A/C hadn't been running long, while I was comfortable in my lightweight sweater. (Something to consider if you're dining there during warm weather, but we both agree the food's too good to keep us from returning.) The owner and server were friendly, and the owner was so happy and appreciative when my husband told him how much we enjoyed everything. As for the food, my husband had the French toast platter, which actually required 2 plates. (Makes me wonder how many dishes they use to serve their "Big Breakfast" platter. lol) I ordered their Meat Lovers Omelet for the chorizo and spinach, and rather than choose between the home fries and grits, I got the extra side of grits. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, especially the yummy home fries. I only took photos of the menu pages that listed what we ordered, but there are 2-3 more pages which you can see in others' posts. (I might try a breakfast burrito next time.) Finally, the other non-food photo I shared is of a limited edition Black History tumbler they're offering. Contact the restaurant if you want to order any.
