Harbor Freight — Local services in Petoskey

EDIT: I got in touch with customer service and spent over an hr on the phone chatting with two tiers of customer service, eventually the first lady told me the same thing they did in-store, after telling them that what they were doing with the 2 yr service replacements appears to be illegal and that I was going to file a complaint with the attorney generals office and the BBB ,

I was transfered to the 2nd lady whom told me my interpretation of they're policy was in fact correct, that the store was obligated to do my replacement with no more cash on my part and that it was going to be ok'd....

fast forward a week and I was sent the difference of 265 dollars in HF gift cards to make up the difference...

I attempted to make sure the petoskey store had the sprayers in stock and was told each time that they did NOT have it in stock and they didn't know when they would be back in stock, all the while the website told me they were in stock all along......

I called every HF store within 100 miles and every one BUT petoskey had them in stock.

I spent 50 dollars in gas and 3.5 hrs of my time driving to alpena and they did me right.

For that im keeping my review one star, I've NEVER had to jump through so many hoops nor ever had to threaten me reporting scummy business practices to fulfill a warranty claim... shame on you petoskey HF, maybe at some point you will get rid of the employees keeping your store down, ( Mike is still a great guy and had no part in this debacle).

Bought a paint sprayer in 2023, was told the two year warranty will allow me to replace the sprayer no questions asked.....

Went to do that today and now am being told because they "upgraded" the model that I now have to pay the difference between the two models, at a cost of over 250 dollars.....

This is absolutely NOT what I was told when I bought the sprayer..... I was told it didn't matter if they discontinued or upgraded the product, that the warranty would cover all of this..

BTW the specs are the same between the two models and they only changed the color scheme....

Can't get a refund either, can only get a gift card for store credit.

Not very happy about this at all, I've literally spent 1000s of dollars at this store in the past few years and this is how they treat loyal paying customers...

The employees were nice and did what they could to help but this doesn't change the fact that a 200 dollar warranty they provide isn't worth the paper its written on.

I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH HARBOR FREIGHT...

They have affordable tools and other things that the average guy would and could use on his home projects but I don't think are suitable for everyday use for a professional contractor due to quality of the tools. I have been a builder for close to 30yrs and there are times when I needed a tool for a job and decided I would I would purchase tools from HF because of the price. I have purchesed skill saws, miter saws and numerous other tools from them and they usually don't last more than a day or two on a contractors job. They had no issues with the returns though but it was a hassle to have to drive back and forth to return a skill saw 4 times with in two days because everyone I exchanged fried. I can't say that all the tools are no good because I have not had the opportunity to work with every too they sell but aindo know the experience I had with the one I have used. We are completely out of power here in northern Michigan and we’re not getting it back until Sunday.. I walked into your store in Petoskey and was in luck, I found the LAST 2000 watt generator for $499 and my Dad was gracious enough to buy it for me.

However my dad lives 4 hours away and Harbor Freight told him he cannot PAY OVER THE PHONE WITH HIS CREDIT CARD!

My husband called to talk to them and at the end of the conversation when he told th that we won’t be spending money there anymore the guy told my husband “good we don’t really need it”

Then you don’t need ANY OF MY FRIENDS OR FAMILIES MONEY EITHER!
