Just an FYI, price increase.
I loved Daiso; it's a great store that is usually well-stocked and clean, a step above Dollar Tree and similar stores in my opinion. However, during my recent visit, I was disappointed to find that prices have increased by an extra 50 cents. It's not $1.75 anymore, but starting at $2.25. This change affected me directly, as I had six items with me but had to put back four because I only had exact cash, and the price increase meant I didn't have enough to cover my purchases.
I barely shop at the dollar store because even an extra 25 cents made a difference for me. The greediness of these corporations is frustrating, and now I’m hesitant to continue shopping at Daiso knowing that prices have gone up. For instance, I don’t think I would pay $2.25 for a spoon when I can find it elsewhere for just 50 cents.
While Daiso offers many cute and functional items, the recent price increases seem unjustified and driven by greed. As someone who is frugal, I need to shop where I can afford items without overspending on things I can get cheaper elsewhere. It’s truly disappointing.
Attached are the photos of one of the items purchased at Daiso for $2.25, and the same exact item, (a bit better), being sold at Walmart for 98 cents. Which for this price you could have gotten two and tax included, compared to the one from Daiso. The store has unique items, but why spend more than double or more than you should for the same exact thing and made in the same country?
One of the things that I dislike about Daiso is the fact that they have a no return policy, even when you purchase something by mistake or it comes defected upon opening the product, so if you can't use it, you have to throw it away or donate it and that's...
Read moreDisappointing Grand Opening. I showed up at 9 am. The store was very clean and well stocked, but it was hard shopping with people constantly bumping into you. I waited over an hour to check out with over $60 worth of merchandise only to discover that Daiso ran out of their free goodie bags. The store didn’t even give you a free reusable bag like I got at the Daiso grand opening in Houston. If I had known there would not be any free gifts, I would have left and returned when the store...
Read moreI’ve always loved Daiso! I’ve visited other locations in Austin and other cities as well. The Pflugerville location is bright and tidy, just like other Daiso stores. It also has self-checkout machines and the 20-cent paper bags. I asked an employee named Elysia where I could find toothbrushes and erasers. She enthusiastically helped me, took me to the right section, and explained how to convert yen to dollars. This store is well-stocked, and I’ll definitely be...
