I met someone with a nice hairstyle taking the train home one day that recommended Crimson to me and a hair dresser by the name of Jen. I was so excited to make the appointment with the person they recommended (Jen). I went there on my birthday to pamper myself with a great hairstyle and it was the worse decision that I made for my special day. Jen had no CLUE how to do my curly hair. I showed her several pictures in the hair style magazines at the salon and she shot all my ideas down with excuses like may be you should think about it for the next time you come back or I think you should keep your hair the way it is and get a relaxer. If I wanted a relaxer my hair wouldn't have been curly when I went there. I specifically went there for a new look. She wouldn't even cut my hair the way I wanted and she struggled blow drying my hair. I could of done a better job at home. She has no idea or concept of what it is to do thick curly hair or ethnic hair. If you have this type of hair stay away from this salon you will be so disappointed. Jen ruined my birthday I left the salon that day so sad and discouraged. I didn't even want to go out with my family and friends that evening. She had my hair smelling like it was on fire and it was still curly and wavy in some areas. I washed my hair that same day and wore it curly. I threw away my hard earned money ($100.00) to be exact that day in this salon and the prices are not cheap to get your hair done there. I have received many emails from Crimson because they placed me on their client list for emails and I've pleaded to please remove me from their emails and they still continue to have me on their mailing list. Please remove me from your emails. I want to forget you even exist. If you have curly or ethnic hair run the other way they have no idea how to manage or style this type of hair. I can't believe how many pictures Jen posts of herself with so many different hair styles and color. Oh that's right someone else that really knows how to do hair did it for her. I wish there was an option to remove the one star I had to choose in order to write this review because Crimson Hair Salon nor Jen ESPECIALLY deserves...

Not only did my stylist Sarah talk me down off the ledge (it was some pretty bad color stripes) --but she also fully walked me through some of the corrective options and explained the processes and quickly got me back on track -- all with the utmost care for the integrity of my hair which I greatly appreciated! Skip ahead and she's been my go to color guru and she's always made me look AMAZING every time I leave her chair. Highly recommend her and the salon: professional products, experienced staff, a super convenient location downtown (short walk from City Hall) and all around just a really positive and welcoming vibe π For me it's worth the trek downtown for such amazing results β€οΈ just recently went from high lift blonde to a fun copper red for the fall πππ
2019: Great centrally located professional hair salon, comfortable warm and inviting! It's apparent they care about knowledgeable and well trained stylists, top notch service and staying up on current trends and techniques. Very affordable for the city, will definitely go back again ππππ I went in for vivid color work because they carry olaplex and had great photos online but would definitely recommend for balayage and other more natural color work as I was looking around and everyone getting their hair done...

The first stylist seemed to be very unhappy to do her hair, she was brushing it very harshly and pulling. I was told by Jen(the owner)she was experienced in perms but when wrapping her hair it looked like she was having a lot of trouble and kept huffing and puffing, it took her 2.5 hours to wrap it. When adding the chemicals she kept reading over and over the instructions. While waiting for 20 minutes for the chemicals to work she took another client, we were asked if it was okay for someone else to finish my daughterβs service because she still needed a hair cut, we agreed. The other stylist had curly hair and we were told she was an expert with curly hair. I donβt know why the Stylist kept making comments about how her hair is naturally curly not a perm like my daughter, kept asking her if she really had naturally curly hair because why would she be getting a perm if it was. She felt shamed because of those comment, her head ended up sore from all the pulling. I had very high expectations for this place because it has a 4.9 star rating but I ended up very disappointed and wishing I hadnβt gone in. My daughters hair looks good but the experience just overshadows...
